Look who appointed this AG nominee. Even McCain, who was a POW and normally backs Bush, does not back this form of interrogation.

In days of yore, in conventional warfare where people dropped bombs on you, shot at you, had a country at war with you--yes I'd agree. Let me ask you this--if your mother and father worked in the twin towers, and information could have been gotten from an Al Queda member that would have prevented it, would you really have a problem with it. al Queda has no honor-gives no quarter. Quite honestly if sticking a cattle prod up their butts elicts information from these animals that saves the lives of civilians around the world--I really don't care.

You're right. It puts us in a nasty category. In 1947 the US prosecuted a Japanese officer for waterboarding as a war crime-guess the US thought it was torture then. This AG should not be confirmed.

Okay, It's a bad thing.
However, what would you do if 'they' had your Mother, Sister or someone you loved? Would it be okay then?
Sometimes, Good people are required to do Bad things for the good of majority.
I don't like it, the world is not he way I wished it could be. There is a lot of evil that needs to be eliminated.

while I believe that yes it is torture... I am afraid we have dug too deep a hole to get out of on this issue.
Wouldn't people who have been water-boarded and detained by our government for years come out of the woodwork with lawsuits if we all of a sudden determined that yes it is indeed torture?

My problem with it is, now that the Government has no opposition on this, why would they stop? Where does it end? How far is too far? Soon we will be ripping out nails and shooting blanks into people's heads and calling it "enhanced interrogation techniques"

I don't think it's the American way at all...
Even though our President seems to encourage it.
If everyone in the USA has an opinion about it, why can't
Mukasey share his ?
