No way around it ,exercise most be a part of your regular routine. But make sure that you enjoy it or it wont last.
Also you might want to look into glycemic index (GI) and glycemic load (GL) diet. This diet looks at how fast certain foods causes glucose to spike in your blood. You can cut calorie and portion and starve yourself but if your still having these spikes you won't lose the weight ,especially in these spots!

recently i lost 30 pounds but my lower half still needs work, i tend to get out on my bike every day and go for a 2 hour ride, 8 miles in all....it does help the legs thighs hips and stomache area, try going uphill..it does hurt at first but it works...regular exercise every day will help...it did for me...and i don't have them love handles any more, all i am doing now is toning up...i have lost enough weight....

The way not to do it is starve yourself, to start with. Just exercise and eat right. I did....lost 90 LBS because of it. Starving yourself won't help at all. Drink more water, eat less before bed, and don't eat for stress are the 3 things I follow and i'm going pretty well if i don't say myself. 90 LBS isn't anything like 5-10lbs so take my advice. If you want anymore details, feel free to email me. Just please be patient for ppl seem to email me for advice on this, I will reply, don't worry! ~Adia`

Definitely exercise more. Do some cardio or even dance to burn off the fat and build up muscle.

Good luck!
