OK, the only thing wrong w/ the death penalty is sometimes, they execute the wrong person.
That said,.....
I am for the death penalty when circumstances prove that it is so damned obvious that the person is guilty, and has no intention of changing, shows absolutely no remorse, and has even promised to do it again.
Yeah I have issues.
Imagine being caught red handed, on live TV, shooting and killing indiscriminately, men women children and cops, when robbing a bank, and the to be 'presumed innocent'..? Excuse the f*&k outta me, but that is so NOT INNOCENT...they deserve to fry.
And when dealing with pedophiles...OMG don't even get me started there.
Yeah, the system may not be perfect, and for that I am sorry...believe me....cuz it is that same system that allows certain repeat offenders to go free and do more harm.
At least science is helping make those mistakes fewer and further between, and it is helping in the release of those who are innocent....who I believe should receive some recompense.
Oh, and while I am at it...for those monsters who receive life...what a joke....Manson is being taken care of by the taxes paid from his victims families...where is the justice in that? Seems the families only get screwed again.
Then there is the issue of illegal aliens and their so called "rights" when they drink and drive and end up killing....Yeah I have issues....
OK, I'm done ranting.

You don't have to condone brutal crimes or want the criminals who commit them to avoid a harsh punishment to ask whether the death penalty prevents or even reduces crime and whether it risks killing innocent people. (Sources below)
124 people on death rows have been released with proof that they were wrongfully convicted. DNA is available in less than 10% of all homicides and isn’t a guarantee we won’t execute innocent people.
The death penalty doesn't prevent others from committing murder. No reputable study shows the death penalty to be a deterrent. To be a deterrent a punishment must be sure and swift. The death penalty is neither. Homicide rates are higher in states and regions that have it than in states that don’t.
We have a good alternative. Life without parole is now on the books in 48 states. It means what it says. It is sure and swift and rarely appealed. Life without parole is less expensive than the death penalty.
The death penalty costs much more than life in prison, mostly because of the legal process which is supposed to prevent executions of innocent people.
The death penalty isn't reserved for the worst crimes, but for defendants with the worst lawyers. It doesn't apply to people with money. When is the last time a wealthy person was on death row, let alone executed?
The death penalty doesn't necessarily help families of murder victims. Murder victim family members across the country argue that the drawn-out death penalty process is painful for them and that life without parole is an appropriate alternative.
Problems with speeding up the process. Over 50 of the innocent people released from death row had already served over a decade. If the process is speeded up we are sure to execute an innocent person.

Personally, I don't believe that it's necessarily wrong in all cases -- it's not such a black-and-white issue, there are shades of gray. I definitely believe that there are some people who committed crimes so terrible and heinous that they deserve to die. I do not, however, think they should be killed by the state, which (every one that uses the death penalty) has a proven track record of applying it unfairly and even sometimes executing innocent people. There are too many mistakes made to allow it to go on, in my opinion.

Well, one of the only reasons I'm against the Death Penalty is that justice isn't all it's cracked up to be. Sometimes, you end up sending the wrong person to their death. Sometimes the trial was unjust, biased, etc. You can't expect humans to always be correct in their judgement. The basic reason is that because sometimes, we end up killing an innocent. It is better to be safe than sorry. Better if they spend their life in prison with a chance of parole in case they find evidence that saves him or catch the real criminal.

The death penalty is wrong because it would only cost probably 8$ for the electricity to zap someone, rather than to keep then in a cell for the rest of their lives so we have to pay tons of taxes to feed them, and pay thousands of dollars to keep electric on for them, I agree with the death penalty they should enforce it more bet you there would be A LOT less crime!
Especially child molesters, and murderers

The death penalty is too good for murderers. A man or woman sentenced to death has plenty of time to make his peace with his god. The killer never gives that consideration to their victim.
Lock murderers away for all of their lives with austere conditions.

How can the law says its wrong to kill but then turn around and give somebody the death penalty? Killing is never the answer or the solution. No one has a right to decide who lives and who dies.

too many people are convicted of crimes they didnt commit....if they sentenced everyone to death, they may find after they've been issued the punishment that they were really innocent...
life in prison is a better option BECAUSE it provides time to prove innocence if innocence exists.....
Its also not a way to deter crimes...if you look it up, you'll find that in places where the death penalty is enforced, the crime rate doesnt change...why? because people commit crimes THINKING they'll get away with it...or they commit crimes out of passion..which means they hadnt planned on hurting anyone until the minute it happened....
its not a productive form of punishment by any means..

I would say that the ultimate argument is that death is final and if there is a mistake made you can't very well reverse an execution. That being said, I think pedophiles should be put to death. Just my personal opinion based on the damage they do and the fact that it's virtually impossible to rehabilitate them.
