You should never hit females under any circumstance. There is always a way to keep her from hitting you without hitting her. But women should realize that it is very hard not to hit some one who is slapping and hitting you so women don't need to put themselves in that position and not expect to get hit. But I still believe there is a way to keep her from hurting you without hitting her.

I'll put this in context that a woman has initiated first contact.
It is still viewed as "bad" if a man strikes a woman due to the physical stature of men being bigger than women. But if a woman does not believe there will be retaliation, then she has learned that hitting a man is fine.
Just because a woman is smaller, doesn't mean her fist won't hurt a man. What would be wrong is a man using his physical superiority to inflict serious injury. Let's say a 5'4" 120 lb woman strikes a 6'2" 220 lb man. If he lands a solid punch with all his weight it would easily put her to the ground. If he feels he is going to strike back, maybe an open handed slap would be of equivalent force.
It is not good to use violence against violence unless one is fearing for his/her life. Most of the time, a woman would probably hit a man one time. He would be a better man to just walk away.
Once when I was at an army base taking training, a group of us would go to a little bar and drink. A couple of women would come out. One woman decided it would be fun to give me a t*itty twister. Well, it stung and I let her know. After the second or third time, I reached over, grabbed her boob, and twisted it. She ceased her activities immediately and admitted she deserved it. So, yes, I used physical "force" against a woman but only equal to what she did.

Well, strength can also interpret as your ability to "take a hit"
and your ability to defend yourself or resist being hit.
A big strong man vs a small weak man serves the same concept.
The idea is that it is wrong for someone to prey on the disadvantages of another simply because they can.
Now if someone "deserves to be hit"
(and I wont go into what makes this possible, use your imagination) then it doesnt matter if its a man or a woman on either side.
Anyone who knows how to fight knows that size is nothing without skill, knowledge, wizdom, and reflex.
A small, weak person can certainly take down anyone with the correct training.
There is really no good way to judge for certain who should or shouldnt be hitting another, so its best kept to competitive sport.

It is wrong for anyone to hit someone else. The crime is assault. The only time that it is legally permitted is in self- defense.
Hitting a woman IS "extra wrong". This is in part because women tend to not be as strong as a man and therefore the man should not need to hit a woman in self-defense. He should be able to subdue her with less aggression.
Personally, I am a bit old-fashioned and believe that woman should hold a special place of honor. I would never hit a woman (no matter what), I open doors for them, I give them my chair if there are none, etc. These were taught to me as a child as being common courtesy.

No, Men have every right to hit women out of self defense.
If a woman hit me, I'd be more than happy to hit her back. No double standard.
I'm disappointed, some of the Men in this question are wusses.

From most of these answers I'm getting that (from both guys and girls)
- men should have mercy on women because women are physically weaker
I can understand that and respect that, but if this is true then the woman should kno better than to put her hands on someone that can hurt her. So a woman can't really get mad is she gets hit back. She should really expect to get hit back

Very interesting question. I believe that it is all a question of context. For most purposes, it is wrong to hit anyone. But for any reason that you would have to hit someone, it should not be gender-based. That is to say, there should be no scenario that would have you strike a man that would not have you strike a woman.
For me personally, the only reason that I can think of to hit someone would be self defense, or defense of my family. In either case, I would hit / kick / punch / bite / stab a man OR a woman.

Yes it is always wrong to hit a woman. I did it once and still feel incredible shame for it. No matter what certain woman tell you, if you are an average size guy, no woman is a real threat to you. Yes, it might hurt a little if she punched you, but you can grab her and restrain her w/o hitting back. Now, if you happen to run into that 1% of woman who might pose a threat to an average size guy, I honestly don't know the answer. But the chances of it happening are almost non-existant.

This is a good question. My theory is that it is because men like another user said, are physically stronger than women, which is a proven fact. If a man were to hit a woman, the man could seriously injure the woman if he hit her hard enough. However, which ever gender child you are raising, you should always teach them not to hit, period.

No, it's not "extra" wrong for a man to hit a woman if a woman is attacking him. But just as if a smaller woman shoved me, I wouldn't use that as an excuse to unleash on her, men should use the least amount of force necessary to make the attacker, whether male or female, stop attacking.
