Religion has always played a part in American politics, but do you think we may be going too far in the current Presidential campaigns?

I believe that this issue IS relevant, since certain religious groups are against medical advances that may save lives or cure disease.

Out of order - One of the great things about America is we are free to practice our religious beliefs as we see fit. The president does not have the authority or power to make decisions based on his religion. Our checks and balances would prevent the president from any significant use of his religion as president. We need to focus on America’s problems not what religion a person is. The president should be a religious person but his choice is his own business. Churches and epigeous leaders need to stay out of politics. News media that push these issues and blows them out of proportion need also to stay out of it. It appears we are more concerned about a persons religious standing than their criminal standing or their ability to clean America up. It is interesting how religious some candidates get during campaign time and how their religious beliefs become more public then their failed business attempts, their legal battles over poor financial management, law suits over embezzlement or other crimes. My opinion - it is nice to know the candidate is religious but it is their choice and none of ours.

I don't think religion should be part of the Presidential campaign. We are not a theocracy.

Yes. I think that religion shouldn't even be discussed in politics--it is irrelevant. What kind of decisions are they going to make based on their faith?

These people have disqualified themselves from ever getting my vote. It's so stupid that Americans require a president who puts his/her faith in things that can't be proven. This is a huge problem.

Yes. They should be ridiculed for it. And anyone who worships an invisible being should be banned from voting.

It's irrelevant to running the country and, as an atheist, it turns me off.

Talk about any number of pressing, relevant issues please!
