I've already read "Blink" (didn't think it was that great). I've heard of such titles as "The Undercover Economist", "Naked Economics", "Choice and Consequence", "The Economics of Life" - can anyone comment on these or suggest something similar? I don't want to get bogged down with charts/graphs, I like the real-world and everyday issues that Freakonomics addresses the most about the book.

Thanks!

Me too. Im keeping an eye on your question.
Right now Im reading The Laws of Simplicity by John Maeda, which so far I like. And after that I am moving on to The Economic Naturalist by Robert H. Frank, just skimming through the pages this book looked pretty interesting so I bought it.

Read Economics in One Lesson by Henry Hazlitt. It's a simple book with short chapters, the first chapter being "the lesson," and subsequent chapters being real-world applications of the lesson. Its focus on on macro-economics.

Another great book is The Law by Frederic Bastiat. It was first published as a pamphlet in June, 1850. It was a revolutionary pamphlet, written in defense of free markets as France was rapidly turning to complete socialism. It is extremely easy to follow, and makes perfect sense today.

You can actually read The Law online:

However, I recommend the print version.

In addition to being easy and enjoyable, both of these books will give you some basic economic context, which will enable you to enjoy books like Freakonomics even more.

I really enjoyed freakonomics as well. You might try this one " A Beautiful Math" by Tom Siegfried. A general overview and history of game theory and its evolution into economic theory as well as other disciplines.
