What are reasons why you would have to have a C-Section?
I am 37 1/2 weeks pregnant and the baby is head down and in position so everything there is fine. With my 1st baby I was induced and had her naturally. As of now I won't be getting induced unless of course I go over my due date by 10 days. But anyways, I was just wandering what some reasons would be that women have to have last minute C-sections?

I had a c-section because I was a "failure to progress". I went through 30 hrs of induced labor and dialated from a 4 to a 6 then back to a 4 because my babies head was starting to swell against the cervix. Everything ended up fine. My sister had the same problem and so did my mom. But she had hers in the late 70's so they did x rays back then and a forcep delivery w my mom. My mom thinks we all have narrower hips than most women which makes us not progress. I am ttc now and want to try for vaginal delivery. Just so its more natural and hubby might not be able to handle the blood of a c-section he says

I had a c-section because when my water broke there was meconium in it. They tried to clean it out so I could still have the baby naturally, but after 23 hours of labor the baby's heart rate was down and I had over a 100 degree temperature and was not progressing so, they did an emergency c-section to avoid an infection and more complications with the baby. He turned out just fine, though. :)

Well I went into labor with my daughter three weeks early and had to have a c section. I had an emergency c section because during the course of my 2 hour labor my placenta disattached and was coming out before her. She went into distress and they ahd to put me to sleep and take her out. Some peoples body just dont dilate so they have to have c sections if the baby dosent come out after a certain time

With my first son I was induced but didn't dilate more than 2cm all day. The doctor finally decided to do an emergency c-section because of that and because he decided my pelvic bones are too close together. With my second baby I knew I was having another c-section because of my blood pressure.

I had to have an emergency C-section because somehow there was a bad infection in the placenta, and because the baby wasn't responding to anything the doctors were doing. I think that the placenta got infected because my water broke and i didn't realize it because hardly anything came out. by the time i realized my water broke, it had been a long time. (After your water breaks, there is a much bigger risk for infection)

Fetal/maternal distress are the major reasons for a c/section. I had two emergency ones myself. Both my son and I went into distress when I labored with him, his heart rate dropped to the low 50's and he was stuck, my contractions were pretty much squeezing him.

With my daughter, I had planned a VBAC; however, her heartrate dropped to the 30's. Turned out that the cord was wrapped around her leg.

Good luck to you! :)

i had an emergency c-section. the reason being i had been in labor for 36 hours a long time. water was broke for the last nine. i dilated out and pushed for the last 2 hours. my son was in the wrong position to deliver and was stuck. plus his cord was around his neck twice and around his waist. this helped in his being stuck problem. the pushing sand him being stuck caused my placenta to tear away from the uterine wall also. then his heart rate dropped and i was rushed into surgery. a surgery that saved my life. i was bleeding internally from a tear to my bladder thanks to the nurse ramming a straight foley catheter into me to drain my bladder. my son is 4 years old and perfect now

i had a c-section for two reasons. the main reason is i have a problem with my left hip and the Dr was nervous that i would not dilate correctly and be able to push. the second reason is I'm an older mom and she felt it would be easier on my body. i was 34 when i had my daughter. maybe a different Dr would have felt differently but my reg Dr sent me to a high risk Dr (due to my age) and that was the birth decision she made.

I had a c-section because I had placenta previa so the baby could not come through the birth canal.
