The people here who preach about using contraception etc. seem to think that all contraception is 100% foolproof... not the case. Some people get pregnant while they think they're being careful - not everyone - but some... and it often happens at a time in people's lives when they are not ready for a baby - financially, emotionally, physically etc. etc..... the list goes on and on and on..... When will the tide turn and people start to realise that it is not a right or wrong, yes or no subject? Each case and every situation is different. I have seen too many childhoods ruined by parents who are irresponsible, heartless individuals and this should not be the case. Every single child on this planet should be brought into a loving, caring family that wants it. If a woman becomes pregnant and decides (for whatever reason) that it is not the right time in her life to have that baby, then it is her right and entitlement not to go through with that pregnancy. People get raped, others are poor, others are seriously let down by their partners, some are too young and have too much left to do..... whatever the reason, I do believe that abortion is right if it's what the person in question wants.

And we should not judge.

Aghh One of those dreaded questions that most people try to dodge. I'm pro-life and pro-choice, However in the case that the mother was raped and the pregnancy was a result of that or the mothers life would be in extreme danger or the child's then I would say that you have to make an informed and "right" decision then. Most people still say that even in the case of rape the mother should carry the child to full term and then place them up for adoption. But how would you feel knowing that you had your heart living outside of you ( I mean the only thing that ever heard your heart beat from the inside) and to not know how you feel about them b/c of what happened to you? ! ? It does not make you less of a person to have those feelings, b/c naturally the thoughts and nightmares will occur and especially at those moments.
But either way Abortion doesn't solve the problem, it may possibly cause just as many more.

Right and Wrong - Right because a child should not grow up in a family that can't cope, afford it, in a family where there is violence, too young, illness etc, but a foetus should not be aborted if it has developed so much that it looks like a baby - an individual.

Therefore the age for abortion should go down, probably to 3 months MAX

It would depend entirely on the woman's circumstances!
The conception may be the result of rape, or she could be a substance abuser, or simply poor with a gaggle of children already! I know there are many people out there who would give anything to have a child, but as i said, it must be the individuals choice, and whatever your beliefs are, surely the fundemental right to choose what a person does with there own life is paramount! Yes a child has a right to life, but what kind of a life does a substance abusers child have? Could a child that was the result of a rape, expect the love and nurturing from it's Mother, that would be given to a child conceived in a loving relationship? And what about the child conceived to a couple, or single parent, who already have children, and are right on the edge financially, the birth of yet another baby, and the susequent exspense may be enough to lead them all to end up living in poverty, and one or both of the parents having some sort of breakdown, do you not think they would resent that child?
I don't know all the answers, and don't pretend to, but I think for a government, usually as a result of pressure groups, to dictate to individual members of it's population, what they can and can't do about the baby they, after all are expected to carry for 9 months, is highly dangerous! In those circumstances, woman are forced to go to back street quacks, sometimes with disastrous results!!
It must be left to the individuals choice!!!

Wrong, even if it's the product of rape. The woman should give it up for adoption. I would rather take a dozen children that would be well loved here than them be killed because they were unwanted by some self centered woman who neglected to use birth control. There are so many birth control methods out there. In my opinion if she was to have an "illegal abortion" and something happen to her she deserves that. It may be her body but that innocent little baby that she kills because it's her right had no say so as to whether it lives or dies it didn't do anything to her. We need to start taking responsibility for our actions.

I'm not against it, but I think the issue of abortion is very much a grey area, and what is right for one person is not necessarily right for another. I believe it is very much an individual decision, and people should not be judged for choosing either way.

Pro choice all the way. But I do feel it's wrong for people to use abortion as a form of birth control.

it isn't right or wrong. things happen and sometime we have no control or choice. i don't say that i'm pro-choice b/c too often there really isn't a choice. many ppl who have an abortion suffer greatly afterwords. it's not a light matter and it is extremely private. we are incapable of judging.
