Bush hates the truth. They planned on lying so much that they needed to create a whole new government agency just to work on the lies. This is a fascist regime and that is the biggest secret Bush is trying to protect. Any lie will do for alot of americans. Just give them some talking points so that they can justify their support.
To all of the morons above me who defend Bush on this issue, I would like to point out that our enemies also have brains. Because Bush needed a retroactive law making his illegal torture legal, it is obvious that he has been using and will continue to use these torture techniques to interrogate suspects.....keyword here is suspects. How many innocent suspects have been tortured in the name of peace and security?
The U.N. is also on this administration about their use of torture and for passing retroactive laws legalizing torture. According to international law, passing the retroactive laws was as illegal as the torture itself. It's funny how we use the U.N. to force other countries to bow down then ignore the U.N. when it speaks against our actions or interests.
I can remember the outrage because of suspicion that prisoners in other countries were being tortured and couldn't be interviewed without guards present. Those nations were accused of torturing and intimidating prisoners and now the U.S. is doing the same thing. What are they afraid to let the world see? No wonder hatred for this country grows daily.
IMPEACH "EM ALL!! Then give all of them to the international community and let them try the idiots for their war crimes.

On the political side - yes Bush stands alone and has taken the US into a semi isolated state by the world
Not a lot of "friends" left for America under Bush's administration and forign policy
As to the "techniques" being used - He is clearly hideing under the classified routine.
Is every one his enemy ? Maybe a prominent pschiatrist said he was a socipoath with untreated alchol and drug issues - "The President on the couch"
The similarities between what the SS did with Dr's present in the war and what Bush is doing now are startling
No wonder he doesn't want to answer questions - And that is what we do know - He is refuseing to answer questions about what we do not know - So much for trancparency - if he were not engadgeing in torture and other unethical acts why the need for secrecy
Although I am not on the "in" I am not buying the idea he needs to protect America by refuseing to disclose a policy that I suspect is torture
Further to this why was it deemed necesary to pass a retroactive law protecting CIA and others from prosecution in reguards to human rights violations if it were not an issue within the dept itself ? More reasons not to answer questions and what would the only semi credible reason for non disclosure be if "his people" were not up to somthing that the average person would find repugnant ? Sucurity of the nation of course really his only option

"The point now is how do we work together to achieve important goals. And one such goal is a democracy in Germany." —George W. Bush, D.C., May 5, 2006 "That's called, A Charge To Keep, based upon a religious hymn. The hymn talks about serving God. The president's job is never to promote a religion." —George W. Of course he is not saying that! If he describes these techniques publicly then he is telling everyone, including the enemy.
I just got done answering a question in which Hillary Clinton quotes were taken out of context in order to distort their meaning. Much the way this Bush quote has been twisted through interpretation. It is a shame that political discourse seems to have degenerated to this.

OK, my head is spinning again, torture is as much a psychological thing as a physical one. Which is why a controlled torture is far from one administered by the enemy.
If you want to soften up the enemy you let them know in advance how much of a badass we are.
So you want them to know.
I don't need to know if we put lit cigars out on people to know that its torture. And since they've used waterboarding in the Spanish Inquisition I think I'm pretty safe in assuming its torture and not another word for Jetskiing.
Not even all the people in his administration are friends anymore. The headcheese is beginning to stand alone.
The question is not whether Mukasey knows if we do it, or should we do it, or should we tell the enemy we do it.
The question is if waterboarding is torture.
Mkasey can't answer that in the affirmative because we are bound by treaty not to torture. If it comes out that we do torture then yes, GWB could concievably be tried for war crimes. Thats why Gonzales also needs to hire a lawyer, that would be a loose interpretation that he backed up as AG based on calling the 'detainees' that might have been tortured something other than prisioners.

There is problem with open hearings.
If the public knows the bad guys will know.
They are watching our hearing and watching how we are doing bussiness.
Do you think Patton would hold open hearings before he went into battle giving detail reports to everyone who ask for them?

well now, if he told you you might tell the enemy.
why do you fell the need to know that?
if the media puts every thing on TV the enemy will know the same as you and I.
please don't take this wrong, but you might need to get a clue.

No. It's only the measly 70% of Americans who oppose the occupation and the even larger percentage who condemn torture of any kind, physical or psychological. They are the "enemy."
