We did not born to feel pain. Sometimes we do our own pain that we did not noticed we are the source of it. But most of the time it was occur that we did not expected to be happened. Most of our pain heal quite more than so many years. It is depends on how deep it is? Much better to have a pain causes
by a knife, this will cured quickly than pain that deeply intact in our mind and in our heart. Nobody knows when and in what ways it could be healed.

Some people believe you are born with a level of tolerance that is gauged on how traumatic you birth was...

I was ill when I was younger between 6 - 12 including hosipltalisation on drips, heart monitors etc, the pain was bad but you learn deal with it.

Now I know something hurts me, like a papercut, but its only a papercut, imagine not being able to breath and feeling like your lungs are being crushed by an elephant, even during recovery the sharp pains like you have been stabbed with a sword, muscles aching to the point of tears or pain...

Think this is why I find the Monty Python sketch of a knight after having his arms and legs chopped off, the knight clamly replying 'c'mon I've had worse'

Iagree that some things hurt far far more than they should.

I dislocated my shoulder some years ago and can't describe the pain, but I learnt to live with it and for a few days it ached continuously but I dealt with it.

However, the pain of a paper cut or biting the inside of your mouth, or treading on an upturned plug can cause pain of unmeasurable proportions.

To actually answer our question I do think that you can become conditioned to pain. I get sinus problems and I can suffer sinus headaches for some time without taking pain killers because I am so used to that type of pain and discomfort, where as a different sort of ache or pain will have me crying out for drugs much sooner!

it depends on the type of pain and the severity of the injury i have noticed that the worse the injury the less painfull it is at the time due to the hormones released, but if something happends often the less it will hurt as the body will become use to that type of pain, i suppose we are born with a upper limit we can take befor we become unconsciouse or worse but it still depends on the individual i guess

I was talking about this to a colleague today - she's going in for a mammogram and she said they don't hurt but then she has a high threshold for pain. I'm the opposite, can't stand any form or pain whatsoever and I've had a child. As soon as the pain hit, I begged for painkillers!!

I personall think your're born with it...or in my case, without it!!

Born with it, My kids have a high tollerance level to pain or a low one there is no average, there either hit me again or will run to mummy. Its got to be in their Genes.

6 kids and the only pain was the hangover next day, No i lie the pain started when they reached 12/13 and it might stop the day i turn me toe's up

A lot depends on where you are from, the Scandinavians have the highest and the Jamaicans the lowest pain thresholds... so the closer your genes are to the equator the poorer you are. Also men have higher thresholds than women but you can mentally train yourself to develop a higher threshold.

Some you are born with, others you make. Some pain is harder to deal with than others. I've got a high pain threshold but I'd rather have a baby than a bad tootache for example

I think it is a matter of experience.....give birth and you will never even notice a paper cut again. The more you have to deal with pain, the less it affects you.

I am the same as you. If I feel I might be going to have a headache the tablets are into me before it arrives. For the people who say they have forgotten about childbirth all I can say is its well for some.
