LORD, WHY DID YOU MAKE ME BLACK?Lord, Lord,
Why did You make me Black? Why did You make me someone
the world wants to hold back?
Black is the color of dirty clothes; the color of grimy hands and feet.
Black is the color of darkness; the color of tire-beaten streets.
Why did you give me thick lips, a broad nose and kinky hair?
Why did You make me someone who receives the hatred stare?
Black is the color of a bruised eye when somebody gets hurt.
Black is the color of darkness. Black is the color of dirt.
How come my bone structure's so thick; my hips and cheeks are high?
How come my eyes are brown and not the color of the daylight sky?
Why do people think I'm useless? How come I feel so used?
Why do some people see my skin and think I should be abused?
Lord, I just don't understand; What is it about my skin?
Why do some people want to hate me and not know the person within?
Black is what people are "listed", when others want to keep them away.
Black is the color of shadows cast. Black is the end of the day.
Lord, You know, my own people mistreat me;
and I know this just isn't right. They don't like my hair or the way I look.
They say I'm too dark or too light.
Lord, Don't You think it's time for You to make a change?
Why don't You re-do creation and make everyone the same?
(God answered:)
Why did I make you black? Why did I make you black?
Get off your knees and look around. Tell Me, what do you see?
I didn't make you in the image of darkness. I made you in the Likeness of ME!
I made you the color of coal from which beautiful diamonds are formed.
I made you the color of oil, the black-gold that keeps people warm.
I made you from the rich, dark earth that can grow the food you need.
Your color's the same as the panther's, known for beauty and speed.
Your color's the same as the Black stallion, a majestic animal is he.
I didn't make you in the Image of darkness, I made you in the Likeness of ME!
All the colors of a Heavenly Rainbow can be found throughout every nation; And when all those colors were blended well,
YOU BECAME MY GREATEST CREATION.
Your hair is the texture of lamb's wool, such a humble, little creature is he.
I am the Shepherd who watches them. I am the One who will watch over thee.
You are the color of midnight-sky, I put the stars' glitter in your eyes.
There's a smile hidden behind your pain that's the reason your cheeks are high.
You are the color of dark clouds formed when I send My strongest weather.
I made your lips full so when you kiss the one you love they will remember.
Your stature is strong; your bone structure, thick to withstand the burdens of time.
The reflection you see in the mirror...
The Image looking back at you is MINE!

Well, I'm with you. I don't care if someone is white, black, pink, or purple. We all bleed red. In all actuality, we are all brothers and sisters underneath it all. I was raised not to be racial. I had a black foster brother who I liked and respected very much. Still do even though we live in different states now. I have an interracial cousin who is so good looking. My cousin was with this man til she passed away. Now we still have Jimmy, who is the interracial cousin from them. Hopefully, someday everyone will just get along and not look at color or anything else. We have good and bad in every nationality and religion in the world. Most people who use this word don't even know the definition for it. Anyone can be a n- word. whether white or black or whatever. It just means that the one you're talking about is in the bottom of the tank. they're the worst of the worst. I hate when I hear someone use that word unless they're describing a real low life. Well, that's my thoughts on this so I hope it's all good. Take care and god bless.

You know what?
I think that it's not about whether someone's racist or not?
It's more about how racist are you.
Some of these people are to some extent racist and have no idea that they are.
Anyway -- as a pseudo-educated (because I don't like school lol, but I am smarter than most I know) black woman, I must say:
What I feel about black people, by DreamGyrl360
*ahem*
I love being black and I love black people. However, we have many issues that we need to do something about.
1. We have a lot of racism towards others of our race. Some dislike lighter skin, others dislike darker skin. Some like so-called "Good" hair. Ugh.
2. We are the face of poverty and the face of HIV. I have ideas but I feel (unfortunately) like every other black person -- I am only one person I can't do much.
3. Why don't we help Africa? I have, in the past 10 years, only seen one black-american show where they are helping Africa; all the other shows I see are of white missionaries helping them. We may not be 100% Africans but they are our motherland. We should be for them the way Jews are for Israel.
4. There is a SERIOUS shortage of available black men. The good ones, if they are not yet married, will be married soon. What about all the black women? Who are they to marry, if the black race is to continue? (I don't have a problem with interracial relationships but I do wish a few of each race would stick to themselves so that we can continue to have variety lol) This is where polygyny comes in...

I would like to think that everyone would believe that color is just a color and people are people (Your same tank example was great!) And I think we as people are making some progress, but we all have a lot of work to do.
As for the separation part, it may be a cultural thing, a comfort thing, I don't know. I did a quick little survey and checked out some profiles on Y/A and when you look at the contact/fans that have been added to their list, many are overwhelmingly the same race that they are.
I personally would like to see more people of color in high level positions, but for television, not so. I think Television portrayals add fuel to the fire by depicting the separation aspects of our society!

Well, first and foremost, Just because your avatar is a black man doesn't make you black. But that said, I do NOT judge any person by his/her color or religion. I think that there are some blacks who are jerks as I believe there are people who are jerks in ALL RACES. Not just blacks. The thing that troubles me the most with blacks is there are all too many blacks who yell out they are being discriminated on because they are black. I am NOT saying this is not the case. BUT it is NOT the case in every instance as they would like everyone to believe. If ALL races did as some blacks do they would be yelling bloody murder. Think about this. United WHITE college fund, or United ASIANS college fund. Think about this for a minute. CAN I as a white person apply for a scholarship under the United Black college fund? But I am prejudiced. Right,.....Think about this. And NO, I am NOT prejudiced in the least. As a matter of fact I have several nieces and a nephew who are BI-Racial.

Quite honestly, I don't like or dislike a black person any more than any other race. If they have a good heart and are kind, why should I care any other way? I grew up in a multicultural city. Being in Florida, while there are a 1,000,001 racist elderly people, there are also a lot of people from all over the world that live here.

I am old school, and love my black folks; I think I have always said that but did not always live it. I thought I loved us, but when I really looked at it. I was program to think low of myself, which gave me an attitude of superiority with an inferiority complex.
“Whenever you can control what a man shall think you don’t have t o worry about what he will do. Whenever you can make a man feel inferior, he will always seek an inferior status. If you can make a man feel justly outcast, he will go to the back door, if there is no back door, if very nature will demand one.”
So for a long time I operated out on someone else mentality of me, without me even knowing it.
So I hate, sought to separate, sought to be like what I consider my open enemy (white folks), just to find that I only hated myself.
When I learned to truly love myself, it began to not make a difference, however I know that all of us are not clear.
So Black Folks are a divinely confused people

I grew up in a very multi-cultural setting. When I was in elementary school I never thought anything different about anyone. I recall someone using the term "black" and I was confused! I said "Umm, no they are brown!" I had friends of every race and colour and size and never thought anything about it. When I got to high school, they had changed some zones so I ended up going to a high school with a bunch of racist jerks. People asked me where I lived and then would tell me "You live in a black neighborhood!" I was offended because it did not matter to me the colour of my neighbor, and why were these people so judgemental??
My mom always taught me to accept everyone and to follow the Golden Rule. I truly thought that others thought the same but I learned that is not true.
I would hate to think that I would judge someone based on their race or origin or color. To each their own! I love variety!
How boring if we all looked the same!

You're right in a sense. But asking a question like this will only fuel what we as people have been trying to diminish, and that is racial profiling. Every person decides on the path they want to lead, no matter what race they are. In this day and age, we are all equal. Your life is based on the choices you make.
The history of our past is just that: History. Move forward and live in the now.
Again, we are all equal in this day and age. You can do whatever you set your mind and heart to. Those who chose the wrong path deserve to be where they are.

Honestly? No opinion. But, not to be racist there's this one black girl at our school and she's the biggest ***** in the world so I tend to stay away from people who think everything you say is an insult, but besides that nothing, oh wait a black doctor delivered me when I was a baby! At least, that's what my parents said.
