VVS Laxman has not been a permanent member of the Test team in the first place. Its just drop and pick for VVS in tests for quite sometime now. Being dropped and included often does not serve any good for the batsman for his concentration. The morale will not be high when you know that you are gonna be dropped any time.
I think a player can be a captain only when he is at his peak of his confidence. As a player you are always worried about your spot in the team. How can one expect him to handle the test team? Well, the rumour for his test captaincy now atleast gives us a hint that he is going to be a permanent fixture in the test team. But how long? I mean do we know what his age is? I would say find someone better.

I do not think Laxman will stand any chance for captaincy. If BCCI decide to hjave seperate captain for test side, they will select Sachin Tendulkar as captain, though it is not a good choice. Anil Kumble will be another choice. I strongly feel that they should continue with Dhoni as Test Captain also.

VVS Laxman should first seal his spot in Tests. He has been in & out since '04 and never come back. Sachin hasn't backed out. Yuvraj too has sealed a spot in tests. So stop support VVS Laxman who plays the no of domestic cricket matches thrice than the no of internationals.

VVS Laxman was the Vice Captain for the tour to South africa earlier this year, so naturally he should be promoted to Test captaincy.I'm not sure why he was not made test vice captain for the England tour, another BCCI goof up.
Yes, he is a captain material, even the Aussies have a good amount of respect for him.

Last couple of years India cricket team captain has not been selected on performance basis. Rahul was elected to satisfy the "south" lobby of the BCCI. It was more surprising that he continued as captain for long 2 years though every body was convinced he was most worthless captain. Now Dhoni, though far better than Rahul, could not proved himself as captain during last one-day series against Aussies.
Considering the capability, past performance, boldness and shrewdness BCCI should appoint SOURAV as captain without wasting any time.

Untested..No track Record at highest level, on verge of retirement. He's good but not enough for captaining the team when his place is also not certain. Even Sachin is not captain material. Only Rahul & Saurav qualify for Test Captaincy.

The present BCCI set up has muddled the whole of Indian Cricket scenario. It is any body's guess with whom they are pleased today and whom they will throw out.
