I no longer have dish or cable, and am happy with my "farmer-vision", therefore I am not influenced by videos in any way. The only time I see them is if I hear there is a really good one out there (i.e. Brad Paisley "Online") and I look it up on my computer! And to add to that, my best friend watches videos all the time, yet her and I still like the same songs.....so I don't think that videos influence the songs on whether they will be a hit or not! Hope this helps!

Most of my favorite songs don't have videos (or I've never seen them before youtube came out). That's the funny thing about Punk (the real stuff), they don't have the resources to make a lot of videos. And if they do, it usually doesn't get play on TV, it'll be included with the CD. But if I already purchased the CD, I already like the songs.

It's all down to the music but these days if a song has a good video it lifts the song to a certain extent. For example, Quenns of the Stone Age - 'Go with the Flow', U2 - 'Window in the Skies'.

When MTV hit the scene, bands/musician thought they had to make a video when they released a new song.
However one of the most popular rock bands from the 70's, BOSTON, only shot one badly focused concert video. After that, they didn't make any more videos but still created new albums/songs. Many of those songs are still my favorites.

A lot of the songs I like either don't have videos, I've never seen them or I've seen them and don't remember. It seems that some people are so superficial (no offence to all who read this) that they care for looks rather than talent. A lot of the music I like is modern and get a lot of radio play, but I also like artists who sound like the ones I like/
