my fiancee had a vasectomy just over 2 weeks ago, he still has pain and discomfort, also he says it hurts to get hard, is this normal? i advised him to used ice packs from day 1 but he only used them around day 5 or 6 (he can be a bit stubborn) could this have caused the pain to linger?

also when should he send off his first sample?

i'm not trying to catch him out as suggested by one of you, i'm trying to help him.
also i don't think that the pain is unbearable. and the information from the clinic was unclear, part of it mentioned 12 weeks and the other gave a date of 22nd oct, so we are both a bit confused, i just wanted to know if anyone knew when the first sample should be sent

All B.S.

I was good to go that night, tell him to quit his whining and service you before you go elsewhere.

The pain is normal after any surgical procedure, he should have use ice for the first few days and then heat to aid healing and to make the pain better. I was told no sex for at least 4 weeks, and to use condoms until a clean test My first revisit was six week after the surgery, I left a sample which was checked for live sperm, there were still a few, and went back a few weeks later, and there were none present at that test. Until a test comes back with no live sperm you should use a back up method of birth control.

Now everyone can cure infertility using this natural remedy http://pregnancyhelps.info
infertility can run in the family and one of the first things the doctor asks you when you go to a fertility clinic is your family history regarding cases of infertility or other reproductive issues.
If infertility is caused by genetic disorder then it's not unusual that one of the kids (your mom) doesn't have it and another does (your aunt).
two months of trying is still to early to be concerned about the fact that you might be infertile and it's also quite early to go to a fertility specialist. Go to a regular Obgyb to get a closer insight and see what ways there are are to improve your fertility rate.
Also remove alcohol, caffeine and cigarettes from your life because they might influence your chances too. Stress is also a risk factor when it comes to infertility.

If he is still in pain, then the doctor might have nicked a tendon or something. That will hurt more than normal, and take longer to heal up.

I suggest he go back to the doctor and complain.

Honestly I have never heard of anyone being in pain that long.

12-16 weeks sounds about right on the test.

He should have received all this information at the time of the operation . OK so maybe the whole stress of the thing got him a bit confused so he needs to go and see his GP to ask for advice , particularly if he still has pain .

Normally vasectomy requires rest up to 4 weeks. It is a minor surgery. After 2 weeks there should not be much pain. You have to send him to GP and ensure that there is no infection.

It does take some time to recover and it feels like you have been kicked in the gonads for some time. If the pain has increased since the op then go to the doctors.

I would encourage him to go back to his GP just to make sure he does not have an infection etc.
Also as the other answer stated, he should have been given a leaflet of what to do next from the hospital. again get him to check this all out with his GP

.You should have received a letter or leaflet from the hospital or doctor to tell you when to send off the first sample.

If he still in pain and it is unbearable, perhaps he should go to the doctor to check it out.

It was surgery. Minor, but still surgery. It takes time. My doc told me to wait six weeks for it to heal correctly and be totally effective. If he's getting hard to have sex, it's risky for you and will probably still hurt him. Before you finally play, make sure he leaves his little sample in the cup and has it analized to verify he is swimmer-free.

I'd advise him to wear underwear that offers some support - rather than those loose boxers that allow his nuts to go bungy jumping down the leg.
