(1) Britten lived near Aldeburgh in Suffolk. He is buried in the churchyard in Aldeburgh.
(2) The symphony is commonly known as No 8 in B minor D 759, written in 1822 (although the No 7 which used to be was spurious and so it is sometimes now called No 7 - confusing!)
(3) Sibelius finished his studies in Vienna in 1891. He auditioned for the Vienna Philharmonic before returning home to Helsinki to concentrate his energies on composition
