Olive hires Emerson to find out who/what's killing her jockey friends. Ned, who hates Halloween because that's when he found out that his dad had a new family, went to his childhood home to remember the good times, something he does every Halloween. Olive, Emerson, and Chuck find out that a jockey who had been killed in a racing accident had been revived on the way to the hospital and had his legs replaced with the legs of his horse, thus ending his career. He hid/lived in his mother's basement. One of his fellow jockeys had cut the girth of his saddle, the other jockeys found out, and they burned the saddle and swore an oath of silence.
Later, one of the jockeys told the "dead" jockey's mother about this, and she went on a rampage to kill the ones that knew (by posing as her son's "ghost" and riding a fire-breathing horse). She almost tramples Olive (and Chuck, who twisted her ankle running from the horse) before Ned rescues her and Emerson knocks Mama off the horse with a shovel. Olive kisses Ned, who drops her when he realizes that Chuck is hurt.

To add to hockeyg who summed it up very well, Olive thinks Chuck faked her death. She implied she might tell Chuck's aunts. However, since Olive had been keeping that huge secret about the saddle, Chuck helped her realize that sometimes secrets needed to be kept in order not to hurt someone. At the end, Ned took Chuck (costumed as a ghost) to trick or treat at her aunt's house.

well ned had to investigate the mysterious deaths of several jockeys that were dying and it had something to do with one of the jockeys being injured due to the fact that one of them cut his saddle strap and caused him to fall . they thought he was dead but he was not and he had his leg bones replaced with his horses . Olive used to be a jockey and she was one of the suspects . but they found out it was the jockeys mom who was doing the killing . I hope that sums it up for you .
