What health promotions would a pratice nurse give a 20 year old man who has fallen off a bicyle? E.g have thought of protective clothing
Any other ideas? Thanks

Always wear a crash helmet, wear high visibilty clothing if out at night, make sure the bicycle is in correct working order, i.e. the brakes work and basically simple to be aware of the surroundings when out cycling so as not to hit a car. Really I don't think I would give this kind of advice however is it seems more like common sense than anything else and falling off abicycle is a simple unavoidable accident which, as we all know, do happen.
I think as a nurse I would be more inclined to encourage the young guy to keep cycling as I assume that this is a favoured past time of his and as you will know is a fantastic form of cardiovascular excercise.

Definately protective head gear, what about hip padding? I take it, he's determined to continue to ride? How about suggesting a more stable bike? One with two wheels in the back?

A helmet...definitely a helmet. Also, he needs to remember that a helmet is only good for one hit...then is must be thrown out and a new one obtained.
