It means you can only drive an automatic car if you pass in an automatic vehicle. If you think it's the only way you are going to pass and you have an automatic then go for it but remember you won't be able to drive a manual and while that's ok if you only want to drive your car it won't be helpful in an emergency if you have to drive someone elses.

Manual. It's ahrder to learn but afterwards you are able to drive both manual and automatic where as if you learn automatic you can't ever drive manual. Stick with it and you will be amazed when one day you can suddenly do it without having to concentrate. I was the worlds worst learner driver as I lack co-ordination, and never thought I would be able to do it but I have been a qualified driver for many years now so I am glad I stuck at it.

Dont give up, i though of that when i was struggling, you will get there hun i promise. There have been moments where i just want to give up completely, I't may feel like you will never get there but just keep going and every few lessons you'll look back and think "i improved since then"
I remember about 6 months ago i was asking people if i will improve and should i switch to AUTOMATIC because i just couldn't get the hang of it, and guess what i got my test booked for december! and i stil have a bit of improving to do
DONT WORRY, think at all those millions of people driving around they had to learn once too! You will get there
Just keep on going and good luck x

Automatic is great for town driving where there is loads of gear changing, but manual is better for overtaking etc.
Depends what your problem is with the driving. If it is only the gearbox then maybe go for automatic. If it's other things such as awareness then you probably just need to practise for longer before you are ready.

I would stick with Manual. If you learn in a Manual Car then you can drive both when you pass. But if you learn in an Automatic you can ONLY drive an Automatic.

I struggled too. I now drive automatics. With the increases in technology, there's little difference in fuel economy b/w the two types and when your usually stuck in city driving scenarios, automatic is the way to go. It's good to learn both types but, auto is just well... automatic!

How long have you been struggling? I don't mean this in a bad way, so please don't take it that way. Not everyone has the capacity to perform multiple tasks at the same time. Some people are better at focusing on one thing at a time. That's OK. We are all different. I would suggest to you that it's more important to be safe than to be able to drive a stick.
It doesn't make you weak, unmanly or anything else negetive. What it does make you is smart.
Be smart, if you feel uneasy, make the switch.

Automatic is almost always easier for the person, manual is just more fun to drive. I'd go with automatic. You'll thank me when you're on a long drive :)

I prefer an automatic. You just put it in drive and goooo. It doesn't get any easier than that.
EDIT: If you take your driving test in an automatic, it DOES NOT mean that you can only drive an automatic vehicle. You can still drive either automatic or manual. In the U.S., that's the way it is.

I've driven automatics for the last twenty years and if I have to drive a manual car I find it hard work.
You will get used to an automatic car and wonder why you didn't change to one years ago.
