We have a huge fly problem in the area we live in, and they get into the house very easily, and I am having a hard time getting rid of them. They're getting out of hand, and I'm open to any suggestions. And please, mature answers only. The house is clean, food not left out, etc. Thank you so much.

First, stop whatever is attracting them. You keep a clean house, so the attraction must be outdoors. Check your trash cans and spray inside them with a fly extermination spray. Also spray any other areas that seem to attract flies to the area around your house.

Then, get a fly trap. They are available at feed and tack shops. They smell dreadful for a couple of feet around them and that's what attracts the flies. Hang the thing in an unused area outside and soon it will fill up with flies.

Then, get a fly swatter and some disinfectant wipes. Swat whatever beasties dare to invade your home and clean up the fly goo (which will attract flies) with the wipes.

Last, (and this is purely psychological) leave your fly killing weapon in plain view for all flies to see. Have you never noticed that whenever you get something to swat them with, they all disappear?

Our area had a huge problem with cluster flies and those foreign ladybugs this year. When one plopped down on a friend's dinner plate, that was the last straw! I had our local pest control company come and spray for them inside and out, including the attic. Instant relief. All that was left for me to do was suck their nasty little carcases up with the vacuum.

I have found that the fly strips work better than anything else. Not the best "looking" things, but effective. I tried the window boxes (triangular shaped that sit in the windows) but they didn't do much.
