One way is to invite them to dinner. You will have a special cake as the dessert for this dinner. At a craft store (Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc.), they have miniature plastic baby figurines for craft projects. Buy a few of those. After you bake the cake, but before frosting it, insert a couple of the babies into the corner pieces of the cake. Then frost as normal. For dessert, give your parents the corner pieces. When they start to eat, they will find the baby, look at you, and the expression on your face will explain everything!

Give them a Grandparent's card (if it is your first)
Give them a gift spontaneously, and put a baby related item in it- Maybe a bib that says "Grandma's boy", the book Chicken Soup for the Grandparent's soul or a package of diapers. When they see it, tell them they are going to need it when they babysit the new arrival.
Ask them to come shoppping with you, and bring them to the maternity store.
Draw a hangman design with blanks for the words "Your daughter is going to have a baby" and ask them to play with you.
Invite them to dinner or go to a restaurant and have the table set with new baby napkins and "I'm a grandparent" ballons.
Anyway you want to! They are going to be so excited no matter how you tell them

I like Josh R's idea. Here are a few others... My friend told her parents on Father's Day (any holiday would work). She signed the card "From the 3 of us". You could wrap a "grandparents" bib and give it to them, you could buy a picture frame, and where the picture would go, write a little note and put it in the frame, something like "Reserved for baby "Smith" or whatever your last name is... or write a poem to put in the frame. Good Luck and Congratulations

that depends on how long you are willing to wait. if you can get a sonogram picture and put it in a frame or maybe record the heartbeat and play it for them over dinner, that might be neat. or if you dont want to wait that long, have them a nice dinner with "baby" foods as the theme. like they did on an episode of "full house", i thought that was creative. (baby back ribs, baby carrots, baby peas, whole new baby red potatoes)--- stuff like that. or maybe buy a pair of the tiniest booties you can find and giftwrap them. i wish you the best of luck and God bless. CONGRATS!!!

Get them a cake and put "Happy Grandparents day" on it! Yeah, the real grandparents day has passed, but I doubt they'll know that.
