please help me rid my building of government cheaters by answering a question?

If an apartment manger is told in writing that someone has more than one person living there (thus violating not only their lease but committing federal, fraud and they do nothing to investigate, are they libel for anything..could they be sued or anything..how much are they required to do if anything.

The situation is the lady signed federal forms swearing it was true under penalties of law that she was the only resident and swore to the amount of her income providing documents and release forms of all assets, but she did not list the incomes of 1-3 men also living there because she lied and did not put them on the lease. This is a federal crime if anyone were aware of it. If management has reason to suspect they lied on these forms, are they required to do any type of investigation or covert work to find out if it is true? It may require sending someone there several times to hear the males having their loud fights or talking or happening to see the men through the window in the

wee hours. How can one spur the management (notoriously cheap) to do this..like get them scared you might report them without getting them mad at you and trying to evict you,. I am writing a letter detailing multiple complaints on these residents as requested by the management, trying to make it very comprehensive and forceful. She has received several other complaints on these people from residents in the 2 months the people lived here but she needs them in writing and several incidences to evict. I wish to remind her or imply somehow that they the management could get in trouble if they do not expend the necessary resources to determine if these people are committing federal fraud by lying on legal papers and thus cheating the government...you know to spur her to get someone here at 2 or 3 am to hear what we the residents of the building here but this may cost her and I want kind of nicely scare her into it by maybe making her think maybe I will file some complaints if she takes

no action to prove there are too many people there without reported incomes but not get her mad..please help as these people are awful..they stole all I inherited from my mom who just died and all the stuff from her funeral and these action caused me to get no sleep for two days cause I spent the night crying, being angry, calling crisis and suicide lines all over the state to make it through...they are causing me to re-experience all my mom's death again,..I lost albums of pictures that can never be replaced of my dead mom favorite pictures of my kids etc..I am so setback, they will never know what they did to me. Nothing in my letter of complaint is a lie but I and several other residents want them out of here..I am right now writing this letter to the apt as requested but want to also veer into this topic to spun some definite action..another resident is going there today (one who cleans apts for them and lives here) and saying either get them out of this building or I am moving..I

You are darn right I want them punished...they messed with the wrong person but I will try to be careful..the first poster reminded me to use caution plus they apparently abuse oxycontin and who knows what they are capable of. I am assured by management she will protect me & never they will never know who complained and I will not report to other agencies unless I am assured I am protected. Walk in my shoes before you present your holier than thou attitude. I never had a complaint against me in 21 years here, never was later on the rent, and follow the rules..they didn't they deserve whatever they get. not everyone has the resources and aid to move. I am disabled, no money, and no men to help carry my stuff elsewhere. There is very limited affordable housing here..but I do intend to move when my name comes up on the list in 2 years somewhere that has a waiting list..nowhere else is available...You are so holier than thou..they are the bad guys here

I fear them they are young 20 or so year olds..the woman may be disabled..I don;t care or care but these men are not disabled and even if the woman who said they were not on the lease who is real chummy with the apartment manager and works for her is wrong, the apartment by law can only hold 2 people..it is a little one bedroom apartments..there are 4 people living there..they are not some help

helpless poor little disabled people they are druggies and rowdy drinkers they are the worst neighbors I ever seen in my 40 or so years on my own and I had drug dealers living across the hall from me who had 6 people living there and were up all night till 4 am..I never complained on them..when other neighbors gossip about them, I said the woman was always nice to me..I went to a food pantry and got her food when she had none..do not dare call me a bad neighbor you ignoramus...and I am a senior citizen handicapped woman living alone and they are scary to me and I knew going there with the police would cause them to take revenge as I can read people and everyone in the building thinks they are bad news and the management is eager to evict them. they tell me, spend dozens of hours researching ways to help there medical problems sharing freely what I know and giving them my own herbs etc cause they have no money. I have been told by hundreds of people I am kid, nice, sweet, have a heart of gold. I have overlloked people's offense often and once defended this women when multiple neighbors were angry telling ten well everyone has had fights.they probably do not realize how loud they are etc but when I person has been told by the apt manager they had several complaints and do not play loud music at 3 am and they continue to nearly every-night and could care less that everyone in the building is upset when before we had peace,. I can only assume you are the most clueless person in the world..I would not hurt a fly but these people are not good neighbors..go buy some sense. My ladylady told me I never bother anyone and trusts me. She knows I tell the truth..she told me everyone in that building is in every-one's business

Dina thou doest protest too much..this leads me to believe you may be one of those people who live in section eight with your boyfriend who is not on the lease...

you seem to identify with the bad guy a little too much is what leads me to believe that.

Call the welfare office that she is sucking down taxpayer money off of...that is what I would do, when someone commits FRAUD like that WE all PAY, especially those of us who pay a high tax bracket!!! They can get in HUGE TROUBLE, it is a class C Felony, to lie on government forms...she can do jail time and also have to pay the money back...I think you are doing the right thing....there are people out there that need this money (single moms) elderly, disabled, and she is sucking it up with no conscience.

IF she is on HUD, call Housing and Urban Development, and report it also, that might be what you mean with her having to swear she is the ONLY one in the house, they will send an inspector and IF she is found to have others living there, she will be kicked out....

as for the management, call the Department of regulatory service for Apartments, I think it is called the Apartment Managers Association, call any realtor in town with rental property and they should be able to give you the number....

I suspect she is on foodstamps, call them also and tell what you know...

this is FRAUD....plain and simple...you are doing the right thing!

you cover several different things here but lets start with the easy ones. It is sometimes hard for management to evict a tenant without going to landlord-tenant Court and then the court gives the tenant a period of time to move. the things that you are writing out is what the management will need to evict this person and you can also all appear there as well to convince the court this person has to go.
As far as the things they took, if you have any evidence at all that they were the ones who took those, go to the police and file a complaint.
I am sorry for the loss of your mother and the pictures and all but one thing that may help there is to go to memory-of.com and you can set up an online memorial to her - I don't believe it costs anything - and perhaps other family members may have pictures you can put on there so that everyone in the family will have a place to see them and remember her by.
The others who answered this all had good ideas for you so the only thing I will add is that I hope this all works out for you and wish you good luck!

I really doubt that you could sue them. If the management looks the other way on their lease enforcement then that is one thing. Trying to argue that the tenant is breaking the law by cheating the government and then trying to blame the landlord for it is not going to do too much either. If you think the landlord should be in trouble for knowing about it and not doing anything then you should be in trouble as well. You obviously know about the crime and it does not seem like you are reporting it. If you reported it and nothing came about it them maybe the people you reported it to do not care.

It sounds like you have something against another tenant and you are doing whatever you can to punish that tenant. That would put you in the category of being wrong in this situation. If you are having problems with loud neighbors and stuff then call the police and report it. If nothing is done then when your lease is up, move to a better place.

How do you know about these "federal forms"? Did you see these documents? How do you know this woman is on assistance? How do you know what the agreement is between this woman and the government? It is quite scary that you have this info as it is private information. You or the person you gave this information to could be in a lot of trouble for invading other people's privacy.

As a co-tenant, you have ONE obligation - that is to send a simple complaint to the Landlord if and ONLY IF another tenant is bothering you because that tenant is noisy past a certain hour or because the tenant's toilet is leaking into your apartment - that sort of stuff.

To be drafting up letters and considering turning people in for "government fraud" makes YOU the bad neighbor. You need to mind your own business. The government has many people who are hired to do this job and the job is NOT yours.

You don't know if this woman has people living with her, or if they are visitors, or if they are government agents!!! This woman may need home health aids because of her health or disability.

How DARE you intrude on this woman's privacy!!!

It's neighbors like YOU that are the "problem" neighbors because you feel like you own everyone else in the building. If you violate your neighbor's privacy, you could see jail time .... also you had better watch your back because there could be retaliation against you for invading others' privacy.

Loud fights are common in apartment settings - people are humans and they do fight sometimes. If it is past 10 pm on a weeknight, then call the police and let the police handle the issue.

Call up the federal agency and ask how to make a complaint. Normally these complaints can be made in a way that will not reveal your name.
So sorry for your losses, but if you can't call the local police on them because you fear retaliation, there isn't much that can be done. You can ask the police about any witness protection program they might have, maybe they will get you out of that place permanently in exchange for your testimony.

Take the safe path for yourself, whatever you decide. Don't confront these dangerous men.
