first he is the Yoko Ono of American open wheel racing, now he's the Lee Harvey Oswald of American formula 1 racing, I hope the France family have him on their x-mass card list because they are the only people he's helping with is careless "business" endeavors as much as I love racing I thinking im going to boycott the IRL, since he wants to ruin all the other open wheel series I will do my part to ruin his, do you agree or disagree?

You know I guess you have a point. I really hate the idea that there will be no USGP but I think they should or could of pursued another venue other than at Indy. I know Bernie E can be a tough card to deal with but people on the inside had to know something like this was going to happen in plenty of time to be a second choice I feel. I will not be able to stop watching the series because I think it is one of the better series we have left in the USA, but I will not buy and support the sponsors as much as I can.
I love racing of most any kind and that is how I look at it until I have a reason not too like a series.
NA$CAR is a series that I was once at the top of my list but now with there childish make it so the newbie fans can compare it to some round ball play off system
and any other sponsor guarenteed starting positions
and green flag finish
the absolute goofiest tracks in the world
and dropping the tracks that were there in the beginning
the absured way of fineing drivers outragous amounts of money for silly things
and put the camera in there faces in the heat of the moment in hopes that they curse
letting cup drivers take over the busch series.
I do my best in not supporting there series and I will do the same with the IRL. But to not watch them I think I will need it. I just will hold back on the $ suport to be perfactly honest with you. Racing is the only sport I really care to watch on the tube or just flat out period.

Disagree.

Bernie Eccelstone is to blame for the USGP getting the boot. Bernie hates American's and he's never understood America. There is no way anyone can make any money hosting an F-1 race. Just look at the British GP! He wants the government to subsidize the race why? so He can make more money.

All of the races on the 2008 F-1 calendar will be subsidized by the government of the countries that host the Grand Prix. in part if not 100%!

I don't see Tony George going to George Bush and asking him to pump 50 million into the USGP do you?

This is the sole reason why there will be no USGP in 2008. There is a small chance of it's return in 2009, but I'm not holding my breath.

In my opinion, there will be no USGP, unitl Mr Eccelstone's buring in HELL!

Have a great off season!

The disasterous 2005 USGP primary caused the popularity of the USGP to drop and everyone (Tony George, the F1 management, and sponsors) lost a whole hell of alot of money! After that, Bernie decided that there shouldn't be a race in 2006, but Tony convinced him to host it in 2006. Everyone thought that 2006 was the last year of the USGP, but to everyone's surprise it was put on the 2007 schedule. I knew that this year was gonna be the final year of the GP. They lost so much money and there was no hope for getting the huge crowds that came in the beginning to come back! Tony tried to convince Bernie to come back but the problem was that Bernie told him to pay more $$$ to host the race, and that's something that Tony felt was greedy and he's right! Bernie's all about making $$$ even if it means charging the circuits more than they can afford! I do blame Tony because I felt that he didn't try harder to negotiate a compromise in terms of the cost, but the majority goes to Bernie! If what happened in 2005 didn't exist, we may still have a USGP on the calendar!

I agree with everyone who thinks that it is Bernie Ecclestone's fault. Just look at next years F1 schedule. It has more money written on it than nastalgia. Bernie is doing the same thing to F1 that Brian France is doing to Nascar. I have been avoiding watching either series, because it is fastly becoming a joke !! These two are spitting on the people that have built these sports, and are going only for the green now. Tony won't admit it, but he's lost plenty of money on the IRL. I really don't believe that you can blame Tony.

Tony had less to do with the USGP situation than you accuse him of. He tried hard to keep the event. The problems came from the F1 side, because they wanted Tony to put up $30 million for the right to host the event. Additionally, they weren't going to allow IMS to sell their own on-track billboards, and were going to keep the money from the ad revenues. Basically, F1 put Tony George in a position where he was going to lose a lot more money by hosting the event than he stood to make.

P.S. You can't blame Tony George, because Bernie Ecclestone said he doesn't need an American GP.

Its not Tony George's fault. Bernie E.Stone wanted more money. All the F1 teams want to race in the U.S and Mario Theissen of BMW made it clear that U.S is a very important market for them.
The personalities I hate the most in F1 are Bernie and Ron Dennis. I hope RD never gets his championship as long as he is in F1 and I hope Bernie falls dead soon (the guy is 76).
Now they want to bring F1 to countries like India, good luck selling your BMWs, Mercedes and Ferraris there in India, I doubt they have even seen a Ferrari on the road in India, let alone there is one.
I am glad Tony George Stood up to this Greedy Bastard Bernie.

You might want to redirect your disappointment to Bernie Ecclestone who is the man that asked for more money to stage the USGP. I don't agree with everything Tony George does, but in this case I think he did the right thing.

in case you havent been watching the whole season, like us real f1 fans, they announced that bernie (head of the FIA) didnt want to come back to Indy, and theres not really any other tracks in the US that are ready to accept a USGP. there might be one in a couple of years.

And oh by the way Redbullracing fan, us americans who are real car people like f1. i only missed 1 race this year. dont say things that youre not so sure is right, or, if you wouldnt say it in public, DONT SAY IT AT ALL!! the only part youre right about is the fact that indy sucks.

We don't get much coverage of any of that stuff here in asia, i could care less. But as far as the US gp is concerned, i am glad that it's not being held in the US. Americans don't appreciate F1 like the rest of the world does, and the track at indianapolis sucks for F1 racing.

I don't know enough about the US GP situation, but I think it's probably just as much Bernie's fault as Tony's. Anyway, they should just race it at Laguna Seca instead if Tony won't play ball!
