I want to hook up my desktop computer with monitor in an enclosed, unheated structure. With the coldness give my computer problems (New York City winter)? Is there something I can do to help the computer operate in the cold?

usually, cooler is better for a computer. dont worry about the tempurature.... worry more about humidity. keep the computer dry. and also, make sure that the room doesnt change tempurature too rapidly.

As long as there's no ice particles starts forming on your computer hardware, you're completely fine. Winter doesn't cause any problems to computer. Just make sure the room is enclosed from any direct winds from the outside to prevent any snow or extreme moisture from getting on your pc =P

Provided it is always running, the enclosed space should not get cold enough to be a problem. Reduce the area around it for more heat, allow more space if the weather is warm, or install an external cooling fan for warmer weather. Always allow some ventilation.

It's best to use a computer above freezing. If you are going to keep the computer there, try leaving it running all the time. That way, the hardware is always warm and never freezes.

Keeping a computer in a cool environment is good and performs better..as long as there is not too much moisture/humidity....

Heating is what you want to minimise in a computer's environment....

It will be better for your computer!! aslong as its not soo cold that water will be present.
