I have wanted to be a model for most of my life - mainly the teen years! lol.
However, steriotypes have held me from going for my dream. I am 5'10" to 5' 11" . 123 pounds, dark short brown hair, and my family & friends say that I should go and model?
So why is it that I don't see what they do?
I look at the models in magazines, and I think, "am I really good enough to do that?"
What do you think?
=S

hi there! i used to do ramp modeling way back into my pre-med school days but since i decided to get more serious with my studies i had to stop. before i enter ramp modeling am just a plain college student until one night while hanging out with my friends someone (who happened to be a talent scout) approached me and asked me if im doing modeling then i said no., then he invited me to join their agency then i gave him a call and arranged some meetings then i have to sign a contract then there am an instant ramp model. well i stand 5'7 and weighs 110 lbs. i dress the way i feel comfortable and i alwayts wear a smile and i carry myself with confidence. if you're asking me whats the real secret in becoming a model well my answer is personality and confidence. good luck too you. always remember to smile and be confident cause you'll never know who might get attracted with it. take care

My niece is a model that worked for the Barbizon Modeling Agency - a LEGITIMATE agency. Get in touch with them and see what they say. The start usually involves just sending in some pictures of yourself, but contact them for the type of pictures they want - they are quite specific in regards to the style of the picture.

start applying in a model company..or have some workshops first. I recommend to you the John Robert Powers..one of the best schools in modeling and personality development. Or search it in the internet and magazines.

You could find a photographer in your area...mind you a good photographer that does modeling portfolios and send them out to agencies or walk them to agencies yourself if you have that kind of money to be flying all over the place. Other than that, find your local "city paper" and find adds for artists that need models and get paid little amounts of money to pose for them, mind you that sometimes you will be posing nude but it may get your face on a gallery wall in a major city or in an advertisement.

Do what you love to do. That's the essense of life. If you want to be a model, then give yourself a break! Attend modelling school, get a make-over, audition whenever possible.

there is millions of others out there want the same - have you been to the modelling agencies, got your photographic portfolio prepared, it usually costs around £150 for one - they put your name on the list and you never hear from them again. Lots of models are taken from amateur dramatic groups, can you not join one of them, or do a drama course at college.

Honestly I think you can do anything you set your mind to. To get started I would get some professional pics of you- kinda like a resume; from like lifetouch, or something along those lines. Next I would go to Macy's or Dillards etc. and give them samples of those pics. If your ment for the job they'll pick you: ) good luck
