"Cleaning up" I meant personal files on a PC. I would not go as far as reformating it because I don't know where my original recovery discs are. I just want to delete all my personal files without re-installing Windows XP. Any help would be great thanks.

If you have sensitive financial data on your computer, You should perform a "secure delete". This is the only method of removing data permanently. This method is endorsed by the U.S. Dept of Defense for permanent data removal. It works by encrypting, deleting and than overwriting the data. This reduced the data to garbage code. So, no one can retrieve the info because it is unreadable garbage. You can do this yourself or you can use evidence erasing software. The page below will show how to do
both.

I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. The best PC cleaner and antivirus program is CCleaner, it's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate.

CCleaner is also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than nomal. Download it here for free: http://bit.ly/1mQZhtQ

You can use CCleaner to remove temp files and whatnot. As for your personal files, you will need to go in and manually delete them wherever they are located.
