In an interview with Tom Brokaw, Warren Buffet (3rd richest man in the world) spoke about the results of a poll within his own office. He, Buffet, pays 17.7% on his payroll and income taxes. The average of his employees for payroll and income tax is 32.9%. So, working class employees pay almost twice as much (proportionally) than the third richest man in the world! What does that say about our tax system?

Booman - It's an interview with Tom Brokaw. Check out "Morning Joe" links. He's a former Republican Congressman from Florida who has a morning show on MSNBC.

JimSock - Watch the interview. Buffet is the one telling the numbers, not Brokaw. This issue is the RATE of taxation, not the amount.

I didn't know that about Tom Brokaw.

Warren Buffet is a decent and honorable man. He gave away his fortune. He is speaking out about this and he's not the only billionaire to do so. George Soros has as well.

Our tax system is really unfair and really hurts the middle class. It is time we stood for something that matters. We need millions protesting for change to happen. I'm ready. Are you?

It says two thing, The rich know how to manipulate the system, and that no matter who is in control of the government, the rich win every time. The "Golden Rule" at work. We should get rid of income tax and have a federal sales tax, that would be fair straight across the board, everyone pays something like 6-8% on all purchases.

Brokaw missed the boat leaving those numbers out there.

They are not true.

It left everyone thinking that Buffet earns a salary.
His money is wrapped up in investments and earns capital gains where the rate is much lower. If not for that, why would he invest? There would be no point. The economy needs investors.
If he were getting a paycheck he would be paying 50% just like me and I probably make more than anyone on his staff and in his comparitve, they pay more than him. That's nonsense. Forget the rate, look at the totals. The IRS makes more from one Buffet than they will from hundreds of JimSocks.
Besides, if he thinks he should pay more taxes, why doesn't he?
Trust me, if he sent the IRS a check, they WOULD cash it.

It means that the Democrats are correct when they say that the Bush tax cuts favored the rich.

Buffet is from an older era when it was thought that the rich should pay a higher tax rate because they reaped rewards of doing business in our country: an educated work force, good roads, railways and ports, regulated financial markets that protected investors against fraud...

It says that Warren Bufffett doesn't make much in payroll. The majority of his wealth is taxed as Capital Gains, not direct income(payroll)

particularly moles. i dont mean those frightening furry ones i mean the impressive ones that look like freckles different than darker. i think of that's warm whilst somebody has one on their neck cuz i'm getting the urge to kiss em. i like moles. they simply accessory the physique. and mushy dermis makes me go mmmmm. i like to the touch mushy dermis with my lips. i like mushy stuff so a guy with mushy dermis is merely approximately gauranteed to finally get raped by me. ;-)

Yes. This definitely makes me go Mmmmm. Even though I knew about it.
what does that say of the age we are in?

So, what can be done about it? Any ideas?
Should this be asked in an economy section?

This, looking for more gains, is starting to destroy even the planet.
Hope you understand what I am saying.

Edit: I wonder who puts thumbs down on us agreeing?Ha,ha!
