This isn't a normal cycle and a visit to your doctor is in order. Bleeding for this length of time and so often must be making you feel pretty lousy and does indicate that there could be a problem; it could simply be a hormonal imbalance and this is something that can be treated. You don't say what age you are, or if the bleeding is accompanied by pain. Do see your doctor very soon. ADD: I see that you've added your age now; at 16 it may be that your body still hasn't settled into a regular cycle, although this may depend on when your periods started - most young women are established in a fairly regular cycle after two years. I still think you should visit your doctor for advice.

Hi - my best mate is having this problem, its been going on for about 5years and so far, no reason has been found. The docs think its a hormone imbalance, but other possibilities you should be aware of are things like endometriosis (womb tissue growing on other internal bits and bobs)and poss even PCOS (cysts on your ovaries). My mate refuses to take birth control pills for personal reasons, but you may find these help you. Think your first point of call should be the doctor. Good luck xx

One of my friends has the same problem, for her it is just a hormonal imbalance and she was given birth control pills which fixed the problem quickly and gave her much shorter periods. I definitely recommend seeing your ob / gyn to make sure though. Good Luck!

Could be many problems. Firstly should not be lasting this long and not with a week interval. Consult your GP
Problem depends on your age.

go get it checked out. you could end up dead or in the hospital if you don't. remember that is blood coming out of your body and it is not safe for you to go on with out a doctor knowing about it

Time to consult with a gynecologist if this is something that happens often.
