If I stay on a web page a few minutes, frequently my screen will go black. I can usually re-activate it, but sometimes not. What can I do to prevent this? I have a wireless laptop. I have Windows XP. This problem can be very annoying!!

You probably have your power setting set too low for your display.

First, right click on the desktop and select Properties. Go to the screen saver tab and see if it is set to turn on a "screen saver" after only a few minutes of inactivity. If so, increase the time.

Go to the Control Panel and click on the Power Options icon. There will be setting that tell it to turn off the display after a few minutes of inactivity. Increase that time, or change it to not turn off the display.

IF neither of those work, you are probably looking at a hardware issue where the display is overheating and shutting down. Would have to have a pro look at that.

the very similar befell to me. i can polish a torch on the demonstrate screen and see the personal computer in spite of the indisputable fact that the demonstrate screen has lost all mild. I took it to a computer fix human being who put in a clean inverter board and reported he had to do something to the motherboard as well. besides that didnt paintings so he's suggesting a clean demonstrate screen. that's February 2014 so perhaps it isnt well worth taking position that course because the cost for a clean demonstrate screen is £one hundred.00. The inverter cost me £50.00. disgrace because its an excellent little computer. If i purchased a 2d hand computer from Ebay i assume i might want to target to regulate them. will be a more cost-effective selection

You could have the power setting set to go into stand by mode after a short time or possibly have your screen saver (blank screen) set for a short period or thirdly you might have your screen set to go blank after a short period.

Go into "display" in "my computer" and check these settings.

ADDITION: Your power setting will be under "power" in my computer.

right-click on your desktop. go to properties then click on the screen saver tab. is it set to go off in few minutes? what is happening is since you are sitting idle for a few minutes, your screen saver is going on. you increase the time or just never have the screen saver come on. you can also click on the power button to change those settings. good luck!

next time it goes black look real close and at angles to see if you can barely see anything at all if you can see the page a little the backlight is going bad in the LCD screen. it will cost about 75.00 for the parts + labor.
