This is the factored form of X^3-4X
Factor out the X
X(X^2-4)
Then factor the difference of squares
X(X-2)(X+2)=0
Set every factored term against zero and slove for X
X=0
X-2=0
X=2
X+2=0
X=-2
The answer is X= 0, 2, -2

you have to make each term = 0.
there are three terms: x, x+2, and x-2
so x=0 x+2=0 and x-2=0
final answer x=0, 2, and -2
plug in any of those answers. and somewhere along the line you'll multiply the original problem by 0.
0(0+2)(0-2)=0 check, first term is 0
2(2+2)(2-2)=0 check, last term is 0
-2(2-2)(2--2)=0 check, middle term is 0

x=0 x=-2 x=2
Since you have 3 separate variables you will have 3 separate values for x
x=0
x+2=0
x-2=0
thus you get the figures for x above

oh i miss math ... here goes :
x+2 = 0 so x = -2
x-2 = 0 so x = +2
or x=0
just mutiplying any number by 0 equals 0 , so either:
x=0
x+2=0
x-2=0
oh i miss math

x(x + 2)(x – 2) = 0
... the form (x-y)(x+y) is called the "difference of two squares", it you work it out you will always get x²-y², so in this instance we have.
x(x²-2²) = 0
x³ -4x =0
x³ = 4x
x² = 4
x = â(4)
x = ±2
ANS: x = ±2

x(x + 2)(x – 2) = 0
Multiply x with (x+2), it becomes
(x raise to power 2 + 2x)(x-2)=0
Multiply both, it becomes
x raise to power 3 (or you may say x cube) -2x raise to power 2 + 2x raise to power 2 - 4 x= 0
Subtracting and adding 2x raise to power 2 + 2x raise to power 2, it results in
x raise to power 3 -4x=0
Take 4x to the Right Hand Side(RHS), it becomes
x raise to power 3 = 4x
Dividing both sides by x results in
x raise to power 2=4
which means x raise to power 2 = 2 raise to power 2
take the square roots of both sides
x=2

x(x^2 - 4) = 0
x^3 - 4x = 0
x^3 = 4x
x^3/x = 4
x^2 = 4
x = 2

I am very sorry I dont have an answer, but why on EARTH would you need to know this? Are you ever going to use it in life? You should be more intrested in what you want to be when you grow up, not what your forced to think.
