He gave the puck away three times in the third period last night! Still an improvement over the St. Louis game where he basically kept passing the puck to Brad Boyes and Paul Kariya all night!
He's got a long way to go to be 'good'. He's good enough to pass through the league one time with good numbers. The measure will be how quickly he adapts to the league adapting to him. That remains to be seen.
Even better if he adapts to the league as well as Paul Stastny

The fact that Kane and Toews are able to make the NHL transition together, with lots of ice time on a young team (Ruutu, Seabrook, Sharp, etc) and a few good prospects in the wings (Cam Barker and Jack Skille) should help these two develop both in terms of confidence and skill. Many of the best NHL players started out on young, inexperienced teams (Gretzky, Messier, Kurri, Coffey, Anderson, Lowe are the classic example). The last example of this in Chicago was Savard and Larmer. Unfortunately they didn't have enough backup to go all the way.
If Chicago keeps its young players and gives them time to develop, who knows how good Kane and Toews could be. Perhaps good enough to lead Chicago to the Stanley Cup in a few years?

He's definitely playing up to his potential. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that if Chicago can lock him up long term, say, keep him as a Blackhawk until at least his late twenties, he may put up some monster numbers, especially if they can keep Toews that long as well.
Being a Blues fan, I'm glad that the Blackhawks are finally turning around. The rivalry hasn't been the same since the Roenick/Chelios/Belfour days in the mid 90's. One of the reasons Chicago is so incredibly fun to watch is the play of Patrick Kane.

I'm pretty sure the fact he's playing with Toews and the two of them are playing well has a lot to do with his numbers. He's also getting a lot of PP time to boot. Those two would be the current leaders in the Calder voting if it was to happen today. Things look good ahead for the Blackhawks with those two guys there. Kane has certainly lived up to the number one pick billing that's for sure.

hes already lived up to expectations so far, but I would expect him to carry this pace for the whole year, he is a new player in the league and until defenses learn how to play against him I expect him to continue putting up numbers but he will eventually come back down to earth

I see him as a Daniel Briere, minus the long time it took for Briere to develop and come into his own.
