The only place that information is stored on your computer is the hard drive. If that is removed, no information will be pasted on.

An alternative is to wipe the hard drive. Go to http://download.com and do a search for "wipe hard drive". You will find several free programs you can download which will go through and overwrite every part of the hard drive three or more times so that it is impossible to retrieve any data.

After that, it is safe to give or sell the laptop.

yes just take out the hard drive that is the ONLY place any info was stored that could be retrieved. then send me the laptop and I will fix it up for a child that can't afford one.

And as for formatting the drive and reloading it you can still go deep in there and get info back out of the drive.

Use an antivirus application to eliminate a virulent disease. There a number of unfastened antivirus classes available: AVG, avast, , Microsoft protection necessities. Burn a CD and placed the antivirus on it, particularly than applying a thumb force, that may then be contaminated. yet differently of doing it fairly is to apply the restoration disks (or restoration partition, see the instruction manual, probably attainable on line) -- only wipe the device and restoration to production facility specifications.
