To make any fraction into a decimal, divide it's numerator by its denominator. In this case, the numerator is 3 and the denominator is 20. Divide 3 by 20 and you get the decimal representation of 3/20. Then the left overs--7--is what that decimal is added on to. The answer for 7 3/20 is 7.15

First make 7 3/20 into improper fraction.
= (7 Ã 20 + 3) / 20
= 143 / 20
divide 143 by 20 taking decimal and remainder 0
= 7.15

7 3/20....
First you have to make it into a single fraction.
You take 7 times the denominator 20 = 140
And then add 3 = 143
So the fractions will be 143/20
Now just divide 143 by 20 which should give you 7.15

What you need to do is make the denominator a power of 10.
Leave the whole number alone; write that to the left-hand side of the point (or comma for our continental cousins).
Multiply both the numerator and denominator by the same amount (so you won't actually alter the fraction).
If necessary, add zeros onto the front of the numerator to make it up to the same number of digits as there are zeros in the denominator. Now write the numerator to the right-hand side of the point.
And there's your fraction expressed in decimal notation!

In fractions the top number (numerator) is how many you have out of the bottom number (denominator). so if you have one out of two items then it looks like this 1/2 which equals 0.5. in your case you have three out of 20 or 3/20 which equals 0.15.
