I have a phobia of flying but I won't give in to it, I take prescription tranquillisers to help me. I'm not scared of crashing because if we did there is nothing I could do about it. I hate the fact that I have no control over the situation whatsoever and that I have to sit in a very small space for a long time. I'm off to Hong Kong soon, 13 and a half hours on a plane. I've already been to my GP. Still really dreading the journey.

I know exactly what you mean! The same happened to me. Loved to fly all over now terrified. Very difficult being an Aussie living UK and have to fly home for some holidays!! Whatever you do DO NOT watch Final Destination. I am not joking. My hubby bought it home to watch and I had no idea what it was about. The first 10 mins gave me nightmares for weeks! Don't accidently watch it!!

I remain terrified of flying, despite the fact that I have never had what you would call a bad flight. I eat valium like they are sweets, and wash them down with red wine before I am even near an airport!

The possibility of crashing is very very small. There is a much higher possibility that something bad will happen while you are NOT on a plane. Plus, travelling by plane is pleasant and quick. So I prefer it to any other method.
