I was using the microwave to reheat for a long time. I recently read something about how bad it is, so I'm cutting down on it.

A baked potato in 7 minutes compared to 1 hour in the oven.
An ear of corn (on the cob) in 3 minutes compared to 15-20 minutes boiling on the stove. Fudge in 45 seconds. The microwave is good for some things but you can't boil an egg in it and I still like my steaks grilled.

Untrue. The microwaves penetrate any covering just as much as they do uncovered food. And microwaves within the contained space of the microwave oven are not dangerous.

Its a tool. If used properly it can cook almost anything. I would suggest sticking with what you know... even reheating thins in one can be a problem. There are allot of different variables that can produce differences in machine models. If your unaware of the machine abilities you will at probably at least ruin your meal.
