To offer wireless services using your existing DSL connection, you need a wireless router. Wireless is somewhat of a misnomer, because wireless routers will do wires, too.
Linksys has an excellent tutorial.

first you will need a computer hooked to dsl in your home what I call a (base computer). then go to wal-mart and buy a wireless router. this will hook to the dsl router and has an antenna that goes with it that plugs into the laptop. you will need to set up a network connection on the base computer.
If you are not to computer savvy I would ask a friend who is to help you with this inless you are very good with following directions to the Tee. Good luck and sounds like your daughter is gonna have a merry xmas.
Sidenote: Hey Amber when was the last time you were in the computer dept. at Wal-Mart and found someone who knew what the hell they were talking about.

If you want to make a home network, you will need a ADSL router. Also check that the living room pc is wireless enabled; most computers made after 2000 are; if not, you'll need an adapter card too. Check back of l-room pc to see if there is an intranet port, if not, you'll have to have a ADSL router with USB cables.

Unless you are computer knowledgeable, have someone, or a computer service do it for you. Getting a piece of equipment is easy, but getting it to work is another matter entirely. The instruction booklets which come with the equipment do not go into details much when you run into a brick wall.

you don't need a router. You can now buy a usb wireless device. It is just like a usb flash drive, but it lets your computer get wireless. You can find them at Walmart for pretty cheap! If you need help there, just ask someone and they should know what you are talking about.

i suggest to buy one through your ISP, as they will help to set everything up over the phone.
so if you got a decent ISP support use it.
If you buy one out of the shop, check that it has phone support hotline.
