Let's summarize your request and take out the euphemisms with blunt statements.
1. You are at work using the network provided by your employerer.
2. You are being paid to work.
3. Your employer has blocked sites it does not see as business related sites.
4. You want to play, not work and wish to circumvent the blocker that prevents you from accessing blocked sites.
5. You do not wish to ask permission, fearing that this may put your job at risk.
6. You do not understand that the system admin will see what you did and probably already knows what you have been doing.
7. You probably signed a document indicating abuse of company assets, including internet, can result in discharge but you did not believe they would do this.
8. You still want to play, not work, and wish to risk your job up to the point of discharge.
The above summary is pretty much accurate, unvarnished, and to the point.
Now do you really want to get fired? If so, keep looking for end runs. You will soon have a lot of time for play while you are involved in a job search.
Stick to work while at work. Play at home. It keeps you employed because you are to work while at work.

First thing you need to do is talk with whoever administers your company network. Depending on how complex the setup is there are a wide variety of solutions or options that could apply. It will depend on what kind of network you have, the privileges you are allowed on the network, the speed of the Internet connection at both your home and office, and the level of security that you need to have. If you are accessing Quickbooks information I would assume you want a very high level of security applied to this remote connection. Sorry this is not very detailed but there is a large amount of information that needs to be reviewed and processed before anyone could provide a working answer to your question.

use http tunnel and configure it according to ur company security
add 127.0.0.1 and port 1080(any number over 1000)
u can also use proxy servers like
kproxy.com
orkutproxy.us
proxypimp.com
and by them u can browse almost any restricted pages.
but the above one is better then it but bit slower

use webmessengers for these..
One of which i prefer is meebo (www.meebo.com)
Or, you could setup a proxy/tunnel.
Please note: your best bet is to actually ASK your administrator for permission, if he/she denies it, then just get over it.. you'll probably get in trouble for usin it if they have blocked it :D.. Generally, if something is blocked, there is usually a good reason.
