My precious little man is one year old on 30 November! I can't beleive this year has gone so fast!

I want to do something special for his birthday but have no idea what!

We have very little money and won't be able to get all the family together as my partner's family live 250 miles away.

Any ideas of what we could do on a shoestring with just me, my partner, my mum and my brother?

This birthday is for *you* and your son's future enjoyment. Make a "cake" that is incredibly messy, and take a lot of pics of him eating it. Then put him to bed early, watch a romantic comedy with your partner and congratulate yourselves for making it a full year!

A cut idea for a cake and cheap is a graham cracker pie crust with your choice of pudding as the filling. You can top it with fruit or whip cream. Little man could love to dig his hands into it and one for the adults is a nice lite and healthy desert! Buy construction paper at a "junk" store and let your son draw on the, make them into the party hats. Sandwiches are a great idea and for the little guests, you can use a cookie cut out to make neat little special sandwiches for them. Veggies and a homemade dip is great too. And for you and your hubby, try to have a romantic evening even if it's just laying and talking by candle light, just enjoy your year's worth of accomplishment and amazement. Take lots of photos and Thank You ideas, construction paper cut in half, then folded in half. Cut a circle in the front and paste a photo of your little one's face there from the inside. Ad glitter or something to frame the circle. On the inside, short and sweet with your son's name by him or by you "him" : )

You don't have to spend a fortune on a first birthday. Finger food like small sandwiches, angel cake, some fruit, jelly and some sausage rolls and party pies for the grown ups. Plenty of balloons, paper hats ... bells and whistles and toys to play with... nursery rhyme music . Enjoy it and dont forget to take plenty of photos. They grow up so fast....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Little Man.

Get your son his favorite superhero jumper.
maybe superman, spiderman, or batman.
same thing with his birthday cake
and birthday supplies look around for a great deal.
But the cake, and photos, and videos
are more important. The smiles and happiness of
being together should matter more then anything else.
I hope your little man has a great and fun happy birthday!

buy a cake just for your little one.....put it on a sheet in the middle of a room and let him go at it with his hands...let him make as big a mess as he wants and take tons and tons of pictures...lol....just dont let him eat too much cuz then he'll get sick......me and my husband are on a strict budget and this is what we plan on doing for our daughters first birthday in february.......then we plan on taking her to the park and just play.....it's nothing outrageous but i think it would be fun.......
