I would like to see people being more accepting of other people's opinions even if they are totally different to your own. I may not be Greek but I have lived on this earth 40 yrs - 20 of them in Greece Kos/Athens/Preveza where I have had the privilage to meet some great Greeks (famous and not) I have also been through my single days to my married with children days ... meaning I've covered nearly every 'step' of becoming an adult. I can offer different angles on things as I am a foreigner and I still do see things through foreign eyes and have not been swayed by parents/teachers/priests opinions on Greek matters. I answer solely through experience. My opinions may not be the same as yours but I definitely deserve the same respect which is more often than not only offered to fellow Greeks.
Between myself and my husband we employ 28 Greeks and Albanians - we pay our taxes and never cheat the system. So if you don't like my questions/answers don't go off on a 'Everyone's against us' but sit back and think ... wonder where my comments come from and why? Maybe I also can provide a side that you've never experienced before.

The problem here is a lack of freedom of speech. The trolls and Y! Answers did their very best to eliminate questions that were not insulting in any way.But those questions got deleted because trolls reported them and Y! didn't think there was a reason to check what the question was and why it got reported. Now the only questions asked here are those of trolls which I won't even bother to answer and questions about holiday resorts or homework from kids who are too lazy to do the searching themselves which I have answered too many times in the past to do it again...I'm bored with the greek section and even though i started participating here a few months ago with a lot of enthusiasm I'm dissappointed right now and just check in too see if there is maybe by chance an interesting question to answer...If it continues like this I don't see a reason to keep coming back,I mean if you want travel information or wanna know if that club/hotel/beach is good check a travel guide for God's sake, and if you wanna do your homework concerning Greece, check wikipedia or an atlas....I don't see why i should bother answering those same questions over and over again and then when an interesting one comes up and I answer it I only find out that it is gone the next day...Not to mention all those intelligent, kind people who were forced out of this section by all the trolling and reporting.
I have no problems with anyone,I think everyone is entitled in his/her opinion but unfortunately not everyone shares the same view with me on this one so I guess things will never get back to how they used to be...it's a shame...

Well, coming to the Greek forum is like walking through a minefield: you never know when you are gonna step in a mine and kill yourself.
I am new in here, from the other side of the Atlantic, and with a never ending love to my mother land. Since i am so far away from "home" (even though there they consider me American, I feel more Greek than ever) this is my only way to be in touch with modern day Greeks and listen to another side of the story (or stories).
Now, strong opinions and disagreements are in line as we Greeks are notoriously "hot blooded" and VERY opinionated, especially when it comes to domestic issues. And eventhough I posted some controversial answers,(and still stick to them) I will never ever consider to pick up and go due to the difference of opinions in here.
My friends, we are in this together, good days or bad days.We are here because we keep in touch with each other and listen to different views. It would be very boring and monotonous if we all had the same opinion, dont you think?
We Greeks thrive on shaky situations,I don't think some little trolls and "some" disassociated neighbors will be able to break us appart.
Please keep on mind not all neighbors are enemies and not all enemies are neighbors. In this country I met some very nice Albanian familes and very very nice Turkish families.(Of course all our compatriots are exceptionally friendly and nice):-).
I'd like to emphasize that we should let everybody express their opinion as long as it is presented in a civilized way and with no intent to indimitate anyone.
Also everybody should keep in mind that this is the Greek forum and indimitation, bad mouthing, twisting of our history and our beliefs will not be tolerated. I notice some questions from neighboring members being directed to Greeks and the Greek government with negative undertones. I can only think of one reason for this and we as Greeks out of respect for our country have an obligation to set the record straight. Imagine if we all picked up and go and allowed the trolls to rake havoc in here!!!
So,let's stick together and let everybody know that we are united as a country and nobody will be able to divide us,either here or in real life.
En ti enosi i isxis!!

Since I feel this is a wise move to put the knifes back to their cases, I too am willing to let bygones be bygones as long as the clandestine groups sieze to exist and everyone is treated as equal.
Even though I took the blame with the help and use of various adjectives, openly by many, for what happened to the section, I hold no hard feelings for anyone but I deserve myself the right to like anyone I want.
I can tolerate, as long as, I'm also tolerated.
Let's all give it a try and as the saying goes "afiste ta misi kai .........................."

I read your question and I had hope, because it would be a real deal for me to talk to someone about Greek food. I'm starving and can't get it.
Then I read your answers and thought I'm back on the religion site.
Fight ,fight ,fight doesn't anyone make love anymore?

the Greeks may have some "fights" with one another
but the problem is not that
the problem are the trolls who are NOT greek and they are causing all the problems(cloning, reporting, etc)
and iam not sure whether they are going to make a new start

No, i dont care anymore, and all the frequent users have left under request of those who dont want them here for the private reasons, or because they envy them.It is sad, but this section is just as i saw for the trolls and the clones and questions concerning alcohol in Malia and Aghia Napa..
I am dissapointed and i also leave...
