I mean sometimes we get into a real state about a forthcoming event, in the blink of an eye it has been and gone and nothing bad happened. Does that make sense?

Sure does, time is the fastest moving thing that we all are a part of. We can get lost in it, worry about it, wish it would come back, or look forward to it hurrying up. Every thing we do is connected to time.Nothing exists that doesn't involve time.
You can run from it, hide from it but it will always find you. But you will never actually see it. It's an invisible force that travels throughout the atmosphere, never looking back and always moving, continuously evolving.

.Yes - what you say does make sense. Very often we worry about something before it happens, only to find out later that there was nothing to worry about.

However, if we didn't worry about some things, would this mean that we start to slip up - we tend to check very carefully about things we are worried out to try and make sure that nothing can go wrong.

Yes it does, perfect sense... it's our human nature to worry about things and the unknown when we have time to do so.

But things that happen there and then are easier to handle as you don't have the bane of time to think of all the negative aspects, instinct takes over.

it does to me! I used to worry all the time about what will happen next now I just suck it up and go with the flow and freak out after it's all over with! I really try not to worry about what will happen next (within reason)

If you are worried yesterday that's already gone. you must worry for today double worried felt yesterday and triple worried for tomorrow. That it's!
