The strain on any parents who have lost a child often results in divorce. Hypothetically, if the McCann's (whether guilty or not) divorce while the hunt for Madeleine remains live then will both parents be eligible to get their expenses covered from the fighting fund?

Faith: from your answer it appears that you implicitly agree that the McCann's are profiting from the fund.

Yes, hypothetically, divorce could be the final ploy, put
forward in the McCanns plan. Having achieved Celebrity
status, it would not be so unexpected, to go separate
ways. Sympathy, coupled with unquestioned split of fund.....?
Nice one...?

Am sure there are legal clauses that would cover any such development...but i must say that your Q is rather too hypothetical & tho' i agree that the grief of losing a child has led some couples to split, i'm happy to observe that the McCanns seem to have a fantastic marriage.

They could've easily & well understandably been blame & bickering between them these past months...which is hard to hide from the camera, especially with the way they've been hounded by the media, but they've stood their ground firmly together.

I respect it. I do wish others would.

Edit: Huh? Where on earth did you get that? Where on earth have i ever implied that they profit from the fund. i thought we were speaking of their marriage...???

The only single way, to me, that the McCanns could profit from the fund, would be if it served the very purpose it was started for...to find their Madeleine.
i have no details to answer for what happens in the interim period...and neither have you...or anyone on this forum...who are so quick to scream foul everytime the fund is mentioned.

i like your posts ESL, maybe my answer was not well worded.

Now that Maddy has reached her 6 month expiry date and Gerry doesn't expect much to be happening so has opted to return to work and get "normality" into his life,I can quite see this pair getting divorced because I always see Kate as a thorn in Gerry's side. No doubt there will be yet more small print (which no one who donated will be aware of) that the fund will be split between them in order to help them rebuild their "devastated " post-divorce life. They make me sick.
