On Saturday night last i was out and got a vodka glass thrown at the back / side of my head it hit the part of my skull behind my ear. There was no blood just a bit of a dull pain and a small bump. i was pretty sore all day sunday with thumping pain but it went away by monday. Then monday night i had sex and just when i was about "to finish" i got this really bad pain all over the right hand side of the back of my head, in a bigger area to where i got hit, it went away after i had some sleep, no pain on tues or weds but last night i had sex again and just as i was about to "finish" again it happened again and now this morning i have woken up and the pain is still there. It is a kinda dull throbbing pain that kinda makes me feel as though i want to puke. Does anyone know what might this pain be cause i'm kinda worried there maybe a clot or something??? Pls no smart answers cause i am seriously in pain here at work and need to know whether i should go and see the doctor

Ok well i have been to the doctor and he has now referred me for an x-ray, leaving now at 3 to go to the hospital. He said he wasn't sure if it was a pulled muscle or skull fracture? I'll keep you all posted on what the outcome is, thanks for all your help

There is some science to this! There are four major hormones produced while we are in labor. Oxytocin, Prolactin, Endorphins (and beta-endorphins), and your catecholamines: epinephrine (adrenaline) and norepinephrine (noradrenalin). Oxytocin is the one that helps you contract. Your endorphins are what give you that 'runners high'. These chemical compounds have a pain relief effect ten times more potent than morphine - which is why we are able to cope with the 'pain' of labor. Catecholmines are what prepare you for 'battle' and it is best if you only have this release for the very end of your labor -when it's about time to push. Catecholmines produce that 'fight or flight' mechanism in our bodies.. Dr. Grantley Dick-Read theorized that the more fear a woman had, the more tense her body was and the more pain she felt during labor. The reason behind this is that fear causes the rush adrenaline, causes the short, circular muscle fibers in the lower third of the uterus to contract.. At the same time that the long, straight muscle fibers of the uterus are contracting to efface and dilate the cervix, the short, circular muscle fibers of the lower uterus are also contracting to keep the cervix closed and "fight" the labor. The result? We have two powerful muscles pulling in opposite directions each time the birthing mother has a contraction. PAIN. If a mother can relax, it drops the catecholmine responses and let's the other hormones do their jobs. Not only that, but we tend to not breathe as calmly in this 'fight or flight mode' and that causes lack of oxygen to the uterus. Our uterus is a muscle, and if you don't have oxygen in a muscle, what happens? It cramps up! The more she relaxes and the more oxygen she brings in, the easier the contraction can be. Along with staying off her back where the nerve endings are being pressed to the uterus. Yes, our minds can change how we perceive pain. If you watch women give birth - you will notice that the ones who trust their bodies and just 'let go', seem to breeze through labor much easier than those who are afraid and 'fight' it. Yes, there are women who have given birth without pain. I had an almost pain free birth with my fifth child - up until the last 10 minutes of birth. Afterwards, well yeah - I felt pain then!! lol It just takes some education - and that's why many women seek a childbirth class that can give you the tools to help ease the fears. Because that right there - IS half the battle!

Yes you should see the doctor. It could be several things but my first thought is that either there is a small fracture, or your brain has been bruised and the blood pressure going up when you are about to "finish" is causing it to throb. So yes you should go to the doctor and stop having sex or doing things that significantly raise your blood pressure until you find out what is going on.

Go to the doctor.
Personally I don't think they are related - but it's not my field. I lifted this from a website, referenced below.
"There are basically two types of sex headaches:
The first, and most common, is the benign coital headache, which tends to occur on a regular basis during or after sex, and is relatively harmless.
The second type is the "new onset" severe headache during sex. This is a first time headache, which the patient generally characterizes as the worst headache of their life. This type of sex headache is a serious emergency until proven otherwise. Such a headache is often due to an acute brain hemorrhage or other serious condition. Fortunately, this type of first onset headache is fairly unusual, but when it does occur it can represent a life threatening emergency, which requires emergency evaluation and treatment."
As there is no mention of previous trauma in these definitions, I think the problem is something else.

Hi
Well, I hope your boyfriend sorted out that person who threw that glass.
From what you describe, that glass could have caused damage to the insertion of some of the muscles in your neck, especially the sternocleomastoid.
When you climax during sex, all your muscles tence up - especially the ones in your neck - so it could be tugging on that and hurting you.
I would give it a week. If there is no improvement by then than see your doctor.
Try gently pressing with your fingers where the glass hit you and see if it feels tight and tender.
Take care

Possible concussion, and definitely internal bruising, causing pressure on a nerve and your brain. See a doctor. Could turn serious from an aneurysm (a blood clot loosened, and then caught somewhere else, restricting blood flow) That, in the brain can cause stroke or seizure. Not good at all.

Best go to the hospital to have an x-ray done on your skull, sounds like there is a blood clot. When there is no blood it is even more worrying as there tends to be a clot. Don't delay as it might end up with a brain hemorrhage.

I would probably see a doctor but what you may have is some trauma to some veins or muscles in you neck/head. This causes inflammation and can reduce you blood flow capability slightly. When you have sex you are moving you blood quickly but doing vigorous excercise. Your blood wants to flow really quickly and is hitting the veins that I spoke about earlier. Its probably not too serious but I would probably see your doctor. He will probably prescribe some sort of anti-inflammatory.

When you come in sex all of your body's veins are pumping blood all over, probably the place were you got hitted with the glass, it's got a blood coagulation, and it is obstructing the flux of blood and therefore it hurts when you are coming out off your sexual Ecstasy.

It could ither be a collection of blood near or the brain. I don't think you'll die from it, because if you we're you would have died in your sleep. but get it checked. or you could have pinched a nerve in your spine. I will eventually go away. but if serious headaches happen get checked
