I want to experience travelling in bus or train because its cheap and fun for sightseeing. i just don't know how.

Contact Amtrak at the Santa Ana station. They will inform you of scheduling and costs. You can leave right from Santa Ana and its a fun trip. Get a sleeper and do the overnight. You will see some great scenery and have a blast.

it doesn't appear that Elgin has a train station but call them and they will let you know your options

Youll probably only get as far as La Grande, Oregon.............
Youll need a car to go the rest of the way.......
Also, be prepared to be bored out of your skull...............unless you like the great outdoors and rednecks.......as I do.............
