I could do it. Ever since I was probably 10 I've watched all of the birth shows and such. It's always been my dream to be a midwife...

Well I've only had one of my own so far, so I don't feel like an expert.

I know that when I had my son the midwife basically just told me to push everytime I felt a contraction and didn't really intervene as I was doing OK by myself, but what if the lady I was delivering got into problems?

I guess having had a baby myself I'd have some idea what to do, but I'd still be scared stiff in case something went wrong.

I'd wouldn't panic though because that wouldn't help anyone, least of all the mother. Usually when put on the spot I can do things very calmly.

I believe I could do it and stay calm. I have had to deal with difficult situations before, I would just hope that everything with smooth with no birth complications. I am hoping to become a EMT or midwife. I love the miracle of birth even more so than before, after having a baby girl Cinco de Mayo (May 5th 2007)

Going on my experience then no! I bled so much i needed a transfusion on one birth, the cord was wrapped around 2 of my babies neck. The shoulder was stuck on my last baby. Now if this happend to a woman i was helping deliver her baby we would seriously be in trouble as i have no medical training

Less than most folk would imagine I think. Ive done it a number of times int he last 17 years as I'm a paramedic.

I can do it fine and know how to deal with various complications etc. But it still makes me nervous to deal with! My hat goes off to all the midwives who deal with this on a daily basis, they are stars!

Good luck to those with no training or experience.

I could, I work in health care...even though not in that field, we are trained to not panic in any situation. I think it would be quite exciting to help deliver a baby, I've even been giving thought to going to that part of the field here lately.

It's all quite natural really. I'd call for an ambulance just in case of emergency because I'm no Doctor though.

Me.

I've had two of my own and could definitely deliver someone else's without panicking. Let's just hope my husband wouldn't be there as he'd fall in a dead faint.

I have seen my second daughter been born, via cesarean as well. The docs told me to sit down and stop looking as they been there before and seen husbands just faint, but I kept my ground, watched it all,and never even turned white ! And glad I seen it !
