If you are holding a candle for someone,then you are also a candle holder for the time being in addition to being yourself.That's why,elders always advised that think before you hold a candle for others or for a purpose.It's a kind of additional responsibility which rarely gets you any credit.

I think it always depends on how you define yourself. For example, if you start going out with someone, is your main definition of yourself a boyfriend/girlfriend, or is there another overriding aspect of your personality that you use to define yourself?

So I guess it might come down to whether or not the most important aspect of your self-definition is what you're holding in your hand!
