Most people sleep lying down flat, so if you sleep as soon as you finish dinner you can get acid indigestion or acid reflux. Which is when stomach acid gets into your esophagus. You could actually choke on the acid if it came up far enough and also sometimes food chunks come up with the acid.

I always do, but there are two big reasons. You burn fewer calories when sleeping and you could get gerd or acid reflux by laying down after eating.

When you're trying to lose weight, try not to eat 3 hours prior to going to bed, you burn more calories being awake and active than you do when you're asleep.

Cause you still have to digest your food. there are even superstitions that you'll experience nightmares when you sleep right after eating. i dunno if that's true, though
