Personally I do my Christmas Shopping way early .. I hate going through the stores after Thankgiving.. when you're fighting the crowds and traffice.. and all..
It kinda ruins the holiday spirit.
I finished my Christmas shopping already .. it was done by the end of September. I bought my Christmas Cards the begining of October, and made out the envelopes for the cards too. Mid October I had our family pic taken (that will go in the Christmas Cards.. we'll get them back the first week in Nov,) And late October I wrapped all our Christmas Gifts.
All I have to do now is.. Get the pictures this week from the photo place.. do a family letter of what we've done this year.. enclose both of that in the Christmas card and sign them all.. and then stamp them.. and they'll be ready to mail out by Dec. 1st as usual.
Then the first week of December I'll decorate the house.. but that's a fun thing..
Basically I do it this way.. because past Christmas's have been hectic, and busy and rushing.. and in the end.. it killed Christmas.. this way.. I get the busy stuff done.. and by the time December is here.. I decorate and make cookies and totally enjoy the holiday.. it makes it so much nicer..
And since it is a time to spend with family and friends, and a time to remember Jesus Christ and His Nativity.. well I have the time and peace to be able to do those things, and they are what Christmas is all about.

I've actually started it for the first time, early. I started mine about 2 weeks ago. I got the first gift in mid October, and since my mother's birthday is a week and a half after Christmas, I've started shopping for that as well. I am making a gift basket for her from scratch, and getting her something she's been wanting for almost a year now. I've been putting money aside each week for gifts, since about May, and buying gifts every 2 weeks or so. That way I won't max out my paycheques as I get paid every 2 weeks.
My thing is, I didn't want to start something too early, because my family is known to buy the same gifts I get them a month or two before Christmas, haha. My dad just bought everything I was going to get him (his birthday is in mid November, all my family has birthdays around the holidays, even mine which is in 9 days). It's tough to buy gifts the older people get as well. My thing is, I don't want to buy gifts that they're not going to use, I prefere a few practical gifts, and a "wanted" but not "needed" gift like a DVD or MP3 Player on the side.
Last year I did stocking stuffers as well, but I found I got a lot of useless junk so I'm sticking to big gifts and a few small this year, but mostly all practical.

I'll be starting this Sunday, November 4th, since I'm off work that day. I believe in starting early, because then you'll have the rest of the Holiday season to absorb and enjoy. Then, you won't have to force yourself into the Christmas spirit, you can just let it gradually grow on you. I've learned from recent years, that it's best to get decorations and gifts in advance, when no one else is looking for them, when the mall traffic is relatively light. Once you get that done, you can focus more on family time. Now, that's what I call a stress-free Christmas season.

I wish I was that organized! But the decorations in stores look so pretty, as usual. I used to shop all throughout the year but have gotten lazy now because everyone had grown up since then and like different things.

You just reminded me. I need to start early this year. I'm buying all the decorations first, then the gifts from a period between now and December 24.

Oh truly. yet then i'm having to have a good time the holidays before Thanksgiving this 365 days, because i'd be in another united states at the same time as Thanksgiving and xmas rolls round. So i purchased all presents earlier this month, and we are celebrating on both the 18th or nineteenth of November. I go away on the twentieth. it is totally situational, in spite of the indisputable fact that.

I can remember as a child nothing was in the stores for Christmas until the day after Thanksgiving. It turned the season magical for us.
I still feel that way, I start my shopping the day after Thanksgiving. Once my children turn 13 they are allowed to join me if they want. It has become a tradition for us, we shop have breakfast then shop more. When all is done we then go to the movies.
So to answer your question, no I have not started.

We have somewhat started.
Since my husband and I live paycheck to paycheck, we try to get one present per week for one person on our list - that way we don't lose a huge chunk of one week's income in mid-December to Christmas gifts.
