if you miss a court date they will issue a warrant and you will be arrested

It is called a FTA warrant (failure to appear)

If you are pulled over or your info is run by the police for any reason they will arrest you and you will have to go to jail be booked and post bond. You will be given another court date at that time

ADDITION: If you listen to the guy who said write a rebutal you will end up in jail. You either have to plead guilty and pay the fine or you have to go to court and defend yourself against the violation you are charged with. (some traffic violations you dont have the option of just paying the fine you have to show up in court like a DUI, but if it is a normal ticket you can mail in your fine)

Unless you have a very good reason, illness with a Dr's certificate, you could be found in contempt of the court. It is entirely up to the judge and how important to the case your testimony was. The judge could impose a fine, or you could be jailed for showing this kind of contempt for the court. You cannot just say you did not want to go because you did not feel like it. The judge will issue a notice that you must answer, giving the reason's why you did not attend. There are several reasons which one could give which might be legitimate, as in your direct relative, mother, Father, wife etc was taken suddenly ill or they died. You will be asked to take an oath to give the reason for your not being there. I wish you well, very silly thing to do though. Good luck

If you don't show up you will be charged with failure to appear. So then rather than a traffic violation to settle you are also being charged with what I believe is a criminal offense. Then if you get pulled over, or the cops come to your house, or you get in a fight, or call the cops on someone and have to speak with them, or ANYTHING involving the police running your name, you will be arrested on the spot. Because they have a warrant for your arrest.

After they issue the warrant, you are able to turn yourself in. By doing that you will probably go to jail for a day or two (you'll need a lawyer tho)... If you don't turn yourself in, and get arrested, and you need to use a lawyer provided due to financial reasons, you could get up to a year... That of course depends a great deal on your criminal record, the length of jail time I've told you is based on people with relatively large criminal records.

I'd STRONGLY recommend appearing on your court date. I currently have 2 friends who are wanted for failure to appear and last month the police were called to one of their houses while I was there... I helped her hide out a window while the police were in the house so she wouldnt go to jail before turning herself in. Do you want that?

They will issue a bench warrant. They will not track you down, but if you are ever pulled over again, then the active warrant will show up and you'll go straight to jail, and they won't let you out until you post bail.

They will issue a warrant for your arrest and if you ever get pulled over they will take you to jail. Go appear on the ticket before it does go to warrant. Save yourself alot of money and time.

If it is a minor matter they'll just proceed without you (in which case you'll very likely lose the case), you also don't get to appeal default judgements.

Serious matters will result in your arrest along with another crime being added to your list (though a traffic violation probably doesn't count).
