they can't handle it. It makes them feel bad, and since it's easier to be mad, that's the emotion they choose to display.
My husband finally explained it. Up until then, if we argued and I cried, wow!!! did he get meaner and nastier! He simply couldn't handle the guilt he felt for making me cry.
Since that discusion, he's figured out, I stop crying faster, if he quits being mean and cuddles with me! I don't cry so much anymore.

Hmmm, I guess I'll be considered a weirdo out of the bunch to answering your question. To me it's ok if you cry once in a while in an argument, sometimes things can get very frustrating and all you can do is cry. The first few times a person will feel bad and feel sorry, but if it gets redundant that person who keeps trying to comfort you will start thinking your crying on purpose for you to feel better. If you do that, then that person will be frustrated with you because they will think that your selfish and only care about yourself in the situation. I don't know what you guys are arguing about for why you result in crying but if you argue try not to yell at each other and talk to each other instead. That way the situation won't be so bad when you guys end up in a disagreement, and you won't feel the need to cry. I'm only saying this from my perspective because I had an ex who cried when we argued, which at first I felt bad and guilty (wasn't even being that mean either), but then I noticed how he was so selfish for everything so I dumped him. Hopefully that will not be the same for you in your case. But if it does result to that, well just remember the good times you had together and learn from the past. Good luck, try to not be too sensitive over everything, and try to get your boyfriend to calm down. Sounds like you guys argue a lot or something, try to lesson that (not a good thing).

No men like crying women. PERIOD. Try not to cry but I know how you feel. Sometimes I cry too. Women are too emotional.
By the way, my fiance was very concerned with me crying for the first time but now he doesn't take it seriously anymore. And Isla is right. I remember his saying that it makes him feel very bad as he was a horrible person. And my fiance would get even more mad and more upset. Now I remember that he would get even nasty sometimes.
So crying too often has its downsides. But it's not like I did it on purpose. However, eventually I learned how to control my emotions better.

Many men are taught that crying is a display of weakness, and when they witness someone crying it makes them uncomfortable because they don't know how to react, which is frustrating, which leads to them venting their frustration.
and then they go and say WOMEN are too complicated!!! lol

They don't like it because they don't know how to deal with it. It is frightening to them. It shows them that their behavior/words have consequences that they didn't account for. Any man or woman who makes fun of someone for crying has other more disturbing issues that need to be addressed. (namely anger and abusive tendencies)

They feel guilty. If they can make you feel bad for crying, it takes the focus off them and puts it on you.

Women handle the situation by crying and guys handle it by getting mad.
Why do you treat her response as acceptable and his as weird?
