Sometimes you have to "fake it 'til you make it" -as dumb as that sounds there is a lot of truth in that statement. DO something crazy, no matter how hard it is or how ridiculous you feel. Then do something else crazy and keep on doing the carefree things you can imagine this "new" self doing, just force yourself until it becomes easier and easier and soon it really will be easy. It will become second nature.
Don't completely dismiss your serious side, though. It will be just as important to you int he future as your new carefree side.

First off there is nothing wrong with being serious. Just think if no one were serious and everyone carefree and crazy what kind of world would it be? I'd sure like that neurosurgeon to be crazy and carefree while operating wouldn't you?
Seriously now? :) This will sound a bit weird but bare with me here. You need to put some routine in your life. Okay, stay with me here. Prioritize! Take care off all the stuff you need to, (Stuff that is important and immediate) (Stuff that is not important but immediate) (Stuff that is important but can be done later) (Stuff that is not important and can be done later). Now, once that is done you can take time to do what you want without any guilt, worry or problems. You don't have to exactly schedual play time, although it's a good idea, just get all the vital stuff out of the way, or schedualed at least, then go have some fun. Oh for the depression stuff, three things you can do and all good psych professionals tell you to do before they even start work:
1) get enough sleep. (8 hours for most, but some require more or a little less. Don't fool yourself into thinking you can get by with less.)
2) A healthy diet. (A little junk is fine, but don't go overboard and balance the diet on a weekly basis, not daily. In other words don't stress it, but do consider it when choosing meals).
3) Regular exercise. (At a minimum 20 minutes of aerobic exercise three days a week, and more is better).
Those three factors will also help lower your stress level and increase your ability to concentrate, letting you get work done faster so you have more time to have fun.

From the moment of your birth to now you have been storing a whole lot of information. As the information has become more and more plentiful, its natural for conflicts to arise though faulty data and bad assumptions based on facts that have no biases in reality. This can lead to paranoia, and depression if not thought about in a logical way.
You must develop an algorithm that works well for you in sorting out this data and dumping liberal concepts and ideas in the excrement file.
By getting rid of this dinosaur, I think you would change your mind about bliss and ignorance and start to enjoy life to its fullest potential.

ignorance is only bliss for the already ignorant. It sounds to me like you can never achieve bliss, but a slight altering of your philisophical paradigm may go a long way towards you lossing the "blah mood". Read a book called "Without Feathers" i think it could help.
