I need six thousand dollars for a down payment on a house so I can start a family. How should I get it? Any rich people out there who want to lend me some.

Talk to your Realtor about the Nehemiah program. There are several other "buyer's funds" programs that may be able to assist as well. I sold a couple of places last year in sagging markets and got nearly my asking price using the programs. The buyers came to escrow with little more than one month's worth of mortgage payments.

Check with your local HUD office - they may be able to help you lower or eliminate your down payment.
